You need to have a lower compression to run a supercharger. There are two types of superchargers the one most common is a roots type like the 671.I would recomend you study supercharging and what you need to do to strengthen the motor to handle it(like beefier rods and gurdling your main caps).Buy the description of your cam lift it is pretty mild.Another option for you is to put a higher lift solid cam in with a weiand tunnel ram and 2 fours.I have done this in a street driven 318 dart using the mopar performance 557 lift solid cam.I would recomend looking for a dual pattern cam instead of the mopar performance one then if you choose to you can add a higher horsepower wet nitrous system to your motor.Other things to consider is how much stall does your torque converter have and what is your rear end gearing and tire size.

RE:
I would like to put a supercharger on my 318 1971 Plymouth Duster.Does anyone know what kind or brand to use?
I have a 318 high compression engine with a 474 lift cam. Does anyone have any advice on supercharging? I'd like to for street use and strip. I'd also like to do a dual carb. Just wondering if anyone out there has done this?

weiland or paxtoon make the best ones especially for the older mopars,i would go with a weiland though because of the reliability of them, they have been around a lot longer and work a lot better, they also have a better bearing system in them that is more reliable then the paxton is,as the above answer mentioned, the compression ratio needs to be low to run a supercharger, anything over 9.5 :-1 will probably run a the engine,8.5 runs good with a supercharger, good luck.

I think they shouldn't necessarily be fired because presenters do go too far all the time and so do other people and they get away with it. BUT they should get paycuts. Jonathan Ross is on like 6 million a year so that would be a good way to kick him into line. Brand quit his job for it so I guess he's already got his punishment. They'll survive it, but they ought to be ashamed and I think/hope that they are.

If you run high compression and a supercharger, you'll probably end up with a case of "blowby" which will cause oil contamination and possible engine failure.

Blower on a high compression engine?
Don't, you will never find high enough octane fuel to keep it from knocking.
Another don't is that running a blower with carbs on the street is just plain dangerous(they blow up!)
If i ain't fuel injected then it needs to be a race only thing. They have safety crews!

i suggest a weiand, a 6-71 may do it for you with dual holleys
but remember with a supercharger you have to use power to make power
seen it done, dragged one one time, the hardest race i ever won in my 66 chevelle he wouldnt give up just kept comming back for more
