i have been in that EXACT situation. when i was in 8th grade they made us all go to confession, and i confessed to the priest that i masturbated a lot. it was a face to face confession, so it was even more embarrassing than behind the screen. the priest told me it was a sin because god made sex for a man and woman to enjoy within a marriage, and not for just pleasure for yourself. he told me i was selfish. after i confessed i felt worse than before, and i didn't stop masturbating either, i just felt guilty when i did it, for a while. so, if you are a devout catholic and you feel the need to confess it, do so. but do you really feel guilty about it, or just feel that you should feel guilty about it? i wouldn't confess it if it were me, but i am now an atheist so i don't do any of that stuff.
yes, you are still a virgin if you haven't had intercourse.

First, the Catholic Church is not against everything.
Second, if you have the courage to confess your sin here, surely you can confess it during an actual Confession.
It doesn't matter whether the priest knows who is confessing. If you are worried about the priest treating you with inferiority because of your Confession, you needn't worry. Your not the first one to commit and confess that particular sin.
Therefore, yes indeed, tell the priest. If you know you have a sin to confess, and withhold this sin when you repent for it, that action in and of itself constututes an additional sin.
You will retain your virginity at least or until you have sex with a woman.

Two "good" things about being a Catholic: 1. when you confess, it is above the law and the priest cannot reveal anything you say to him to anyone else, even if you murdered someone.
2. Confession and absolution cleanses the soul so whatever you did that is sinful is forgiven and you have a clean slate. You can sin all you want to for six days.
Not too sure about the Catholic definition of a virgin, I think yes you still are.

Do not listen to those who say you only need to confess your sin directly to God. Those who say such things are filled with foolish pride, and they are envious of the the miraculous Sacrament of Reconciliation, which is a most assured way of having our sins forgiven in and through the power of Jesus.
Frequent masturbation is a a grave disorder and misuse of our sexual faculty. If you do not curtail this behavior, it will become progressively destructive and lead you to more serious sexual sin. Confess this sin so that the Lord may give you strength to overcome this temptation.
When you confess to a catholic priest, you are not confessing to a man, but to Jesus Christ Himself who is present in the confessional room. Make no mistake about that. Jesus Christ gave the authority to forgive sins to His Apostles and those who succeeded them.
Don't be afraid. The priest has heard it all, and much worse, before.

The Catholic church is not against everything. They are trying to teach you how to live a moral life. The priest hears all kinds of confessions. But if you are really insecure, you can visit another church to confess this one later.
Dont listen to those who will advise you without belonging to the church. I came back after years away and knew I was home.

Don't worry -- the priest is under strict bounds of confidentiality in the confessional. You don't give your name and even if he recognizes your voice, he's not going to go up to you afterwards and say, "Dude, I know you did X and now you're in trouble."
Besides, he hears that particular sin a LOT. He's not going to think you're particularly evil or a super bad sinner or anything.
As for the virgin question, you are a virgin in some ways (as far as intercourse, for example), but you have already tasted sexual pleasure. That makes it harder for you to stop this particular sin and it may make it harder for you to resist other sexual sins in the future. The priest may offer some advice to help you overcome the temptation, like not looking at porn or something like that.

You can tell the priest whatever you like in confession because he can never repeat it to anyone. EVER. If he does it's a mortal sin. You should also NEVER hold back whatever sins you have in confession. Tell them all. If you purposefully hold back sins, it can make the confession count for nothing.
I'd suggest you ask the priest your virginity question.
God bless.

I'm sorry to hear that your catholic.
If somebody tells you that they don't masturbate, either their lying or they're abnormal in someway. In fact, the catholic church counts on the fact that you masturbate to cause you to feel guilty for sinning. If people could live without sinning, people wouldn't need the church as much, so they also have to throw in a couple of things people do naturally to keep them coming back to confession.
So to answer your question, it's completely up to you. You wouldn't be telling him anything he hasn't heard plenty of times before and expects to hear though, so I wouldn't make a big deal about it either way.
And also, by the very definition of virgin, your a virgin. Why would you believe otherwise?

A. You had never had sex before, therefore you are still a virgin.
B. So what if you masturbate? Nothing wrong with that.
C. Your priest is supposed to keep your confession in confidentiality.
D. You can choose not to tell him your name and age, it is not a requirement for a confession.

If you are a teenage male and you didn't do that, then there would be something amazing to confess. Personally, I don't even consider that a sin. I am Catholic (Anglican Catholic - six of one, half dozen of the other). And just in case you weren't certain, it won't hurt your vision.
And, if you're a female teenager, same thing.
