Pope? apperal?

My little sis is doing a report on Pope John Paul, se was wondering if the Pope wears a "rope" around his waist , if you know what i mean. So we googled and nothing was useful.

No, only members of some mendicant orders do. Papal attire is very symbolic and mostly an accident of history, but no rope. The pope wears a sash, much like a belt called a zone in Greek but I am unaware of the Latin term.
