If you challenge them, you are "against Christians" or "have it out for them". If you make a point, that can be backed up, they tell you that you are decieved by Satan. The ones on this board (not all because there are some really awesome Christians here) completly rewrite history to suit their own needs......and honestly wonder why the rest of us can't stand them.
They make Christianity look like a freak show. You peopl aren't doing your faith any favors.

Common sense: I have yet to have a muslim say to me a single hateful thing and I know a lot of them. But trust me, if they did I would talk like that to them in a heart beat. I dont' play favorites

Yeahitsme: How very Christian of you.

Your religion tried to stomp out my gods, level our temples, burn our people and kill our faith.

It didn't work

i will offer an observation that might be helpful. i am an adult and if you don't like what i think i just accept it and enjoy your friendship. if you are hostile to me i walk away. if you chase after me, i hope it is because i left my coat.

not all people can deal with critism no matter how slight. Some also wrongly assume that if you don't like the God they serve then it is an attack on them. if you are chasing them with torches and pitchforks, i think that would be true.

attacks on the christian faith have been all the way back to Jesus time and they will continue. i have studied the bible a little and history a little and i try to answer the question will balance. few, precious few do that.

i addressed a question to fellow christians and it was blasted off the question to answer board in about 8 minutes or less. And although I appealled it, it never got to a person so it remained blown away. based on the question i don't think it was any atheist who like to hit the report key.

in addition, in questions that are definately biblical in scope, i have christians who just quote things that are not contextual or relevant.

Logic, Reason, Intelligence, Facts, Proof must be part of the christians world, if not, then what kind of a God is one following.

I would only suggest ignor the idiots of any faith, or lack there of and give credit to the ones who answer your question.

thanks for this one

I am a Christian. I don't think you are deceived by Satan. He is probably too busy with the political leaders to bother anyone on Yahoo.. The rewriting of history is seen on ALL sides and it bothers me. When people say things like Hitler never killed Jews in the Holocaust, and that Benjamin Franklin was president of the USA. I cringe.. I am beginning to think that people are only getting their facts from Internet sites..and bad ones at that. Life is a freak show, so I don't know how to answer that charge..guilty..I guess. Thank God we don't have to do our faith any favours..for we would fail miserably. In that area my faith and trust is in God.

does the logic of some Christians baffle me?

yes. I have given up trying to point out the inherent absurdity of some of the things they say and that they believe in. There IS no logic. They operate on faith, which is unsupportable when examined in the light of reason and science.

They have faith, not logic, knot knowledge. If you ask them the difference between faith and knowledge, they can tell you, sometimes, in the abstract, but apply those rules to their beliefs and it cracks into a million pieces. They say that they KNOW they are saved, that their god lives, etc, but they don't and logic in inapplicable. They have faith alone.

That needs to be enough for them, for in truth, they don't have logic on their side.

Hang in there sister. They can really get under your skin. Don't let them, it isn't worth it trying to convince them, they are like hedgehogs.

:D

I think I answered a question similar to this of yours last week. It really is all in the delivery, on both sides, really.

If I were to tell you one day. "You know what, Heather. I had such an awesome experience when I accepted Jesus; He completely fufilled me."

VS

"Heather, you will go to hell if you dont accept Jesus."

On your end:

"Shannon, I camped last weekend and was communing with my goddess and felt so attached to the world we were given by the gods."

VS

"Shannon, your beliefs are moronic and I cannot understand how you can believe such crap that has harmed many people in the worlds past."

On both sides example 1 is a way to express our faith, beliefs, without being judgemental or rude. The second way is disrespectful, would go against both our belief systems and would hardly be right in terms of being kind to one another.

So to specifically answer your question, some people, I would even venture quite a few (regardless of belief) will massage a few facts to validate their beliefs in some way; especially when on the defensive.

I know most your questions tend to be on the "Why do Christians do this, Why do Christians do that" side. I cannot help you with that; but I can tell you alot of times there is a common denominator when it comes to us (people in general) feeling disregarded, disrespected, etc. Usually that common denominator is us.

People are people, we all love our opinions and I believe we naturally do anything to protect ourselves from what we view is "wrong"

Ok, I feel like I just wrote you teh first chapter to War and Peace...hopefully I answered this question clearly from my point of view.

Gods peace

You are right. I wish I were not so biased but that is naturally so because my faith in the Lord is that strong. When people both nonbelievers and believers ask a question on this room. I personally take it serious and try to explain it as concisely as possible. A lot of times I am wordy in trying to cover all my bases.

I apologize if I am one that looks like a freak show. Really I really enjoy coming here and seeing all this energy flowing here. It is fascinating to me.

Take care. I'm glad you vented. This is a great place for that too. Later gator.

Anyone from any faith can have altered perceptions based on certain beliefs. The problem with blind belief is that it doesn't promote individual reasoning.

Written faith text is designed to be read with symbolism in mind not as a literal translation. I think there needs to be a greater dialogue between all faiths to see with a greater perspective. And with dialogue, that includes listening.

I live a couple houses up from one that acts like that. Those are usually the people who brag about being "True Christians" and everyone else is a "child of Satan". Pharisees, to the core.

Common sense - common sense tells me that your statement is only being used to try to divert from the fact that there are indeed Christians who act like this.... and I suspect you're one of them.

Yes, there are certain Christians whose logic baffles me. I can say the same for certain Wiccans, Pagans, Muslims, atheists, etc. None of them are doing their respective groups any favors, but the problem certainly isn't isolated to Christianity or even to religion. You could ask "Do some Republicans/Democrats logic just baffle you at times?" and my answer would still be the same.

it disappoints me sometimes when other wiccans leave mean comments without a real reason. if its a bad question, like accusing us all of worshipping satan, i can understand. i dont find that anywhere near as often as christians though. for the right religion, they sure are assholes, (or at least most, of course not all. some are very nice and respectable)

there are so many crazy christians on here, it's easy to forget about the good ones. i imagine they're just as terrified as we are. it's not logic the nutjobs are using, it's rote. they're not the least bit interested in logic. i know this because i work in civil service and deal with the secular version of the same phenomenon.
