I think it's a no brainer, Floyd for sure. Floyd has world titles in 5 weight divisions. And he's won IBF, IBO, and WBC welterweight titles. Chavez jr. has 2 titles that are continental, not world titles. Chavez jr. never boxed a full 12 rounds. I haven't heard of any of the guys he's fought. I don't know who trains him, but it looks like he's being hand fed opponents. He hasn't fought a world contender let alone a world title holder. Now that Julio is past 23 yrs old and he's 6 ft. he's a true lightmiddleweight. Floyd is not that big. He enters the ring at maybe 154; Julio jr. ould be 10 lbs heavier. I still think Floyd outboxes him. Floyd is better when the boxer is more aggressive. Notable times when Folyd performed badly against aggressive fighters: Castillo 1 (I think Floyd lost), Castillo 2.

Come on Elmer, I thought better of you.

Castillo(JCC's protege who was never nearly as good) gave Floyd the fight of his life and nearly beat him, and even in the rematch won at least 4 rounds, and you think he beats Chavez by a score of 10 rounds to 2?

First of all, even the huge Whitaker fan that I am, not sure it was 10 to 2, maybe 9 to 3, and Chavez was not in his prime really for that fight(he was at a weight not good for him and wasn't quite in his physical prime anyways, though Whitaker was about in his). Whitaker would've always beaten him I believe, but not Mayweather.

Whitaker was THE best fighter ever off the backfoot, the best boxer against pressure fighters, while Mayweather has shown that an economical, technical pressure fighter is his weakness to a certain degree. Chavez had Castillo beat in every aspect of the game, and you think he dominates Chavez but not Castillo? I don't get it.

I think at 135 Chavez wins a Decision over 15, over 12 it is harder to call, Floyd could pull it out, but I doubt it, deopending on how slow JCC starts.

Pretty good question but I say Chavez would win, itd be a really good fight like the 1 between him and Frankie Randall, Randall was just as fast as Mayweather and many Americans thought hed be the 1 to beat Chavez but Chavez put on a great fight leading to him winning by TKO in the 12th round with only 2 seconds to go. I say Chavez would win no doubt. Another good question is who would win between Mayweather and Salvador Sanchez, another Mexican boxing legend.

I believe that a prime Chavez would slow down the very fast Mayweather jr with sharp and damaging body punches much the way he did against Taylor and force hime to fight which would swing the fight towards the favor of Chavez. In a fight where he was apparently slightly behind, Chavez comes back and beats Mayweather jr by 11th round technical knockout.

Very tough match and a good question. I would have to say Chavez though because he fought EVERYBODY and didn't duck anyone. And the thing was he beat everyone until I think his 81st bout or so. That is amazing. I am not knocking Mayweather, but nowadays it is all about the money so we will never get to see if Mayweather has beaten every worthy opponent.

So I say Chavez in his prime has Mayweather. Barely.

Mayweather by decision in a close but clear win on points.Chavez like a lot of fighters had trouble with speed and in this fight that would be the deciding factor. Unlike meldrick who tried to take the fight to Chavez, Mayweather would never stand toe to toe and would remain disciplined...Chavez was a great fighter but this is a bad matchup for him..I see Mayweather staying on the outside, racking up the points and eluding Chavez all night long..In order for Chavez to win he would have to pin Floyd in the corner and go to work on the body which Floyd wouldn't let him do, and although Chavez could bang, he wasn't a one punch ko guy so I don't see it going that way either....Mayweather by decision

Identical to what Pernell Whitaker put on JC Chavez. 10 rounds to 2, Floyd Mayweather.
