If you didn't notify the real father that he was the dad then in most states they will not let you collect back child support. You will have to notify the real father, go through a paternity test, and then file for custody and support. However, I can't see any judge granting you back child support.
Now if the real father knew of the child and even suspected it was his, the judge could issue back child support but that would be extremely rare. Most of the time when they issue back child support it is because the parent had intentionally avoided paying and it took them a while to track the non paying parent down or took them a while to force the parent to pay it.
I wonder if hubby wanting back support is just because hubby is upset or even angry over finding out he is not the father.

Nope, if your husband's name is on the birth certificate and he has been the primary caregiver of the child this whole time, then your case will not make it in court! You should have found this out when the child was first born, the real father does not owe you a damn dime, and your husband needs to beat the crap out of you! Sorry sista but that was plain wrong of you not to be upfront with both parties about the fact that you don't know who the father of the child is, you are just plain wrong!

yes you can get him to pay SOME back support and all the future support. but you need to talk to her about this because you are going to be bringing someone else into her life she knew nothing about. there will have to be blood test, which are costly, and then he might want to see her. think of her first and ask your husband if hes willing to share his place as dad with someone else. her father will have rights and there will be no way of stopping him if he wants it.

I doubt if you could do that, but what about the child's welfare in all this, you should never keep this sort of thing secret, but you did, now look out for her emotional welfare woman!

You had to know who the real father was...
Sounds like a big mess, now do what you must, to clean it up.
