I understand many scholars believe masturbation is prohibitted in Islam, but for an unmarried person would it be a good way to protect their chastity? I understand fasting is the best way but under conditions would mastubartion be permissable?

Also, in the Holy Quran is states protecting chastity except from wives and "those whom their right hand possess" i know people say that means slaves, but if it means protected except property owned, can't that mean their right hand?

Also, it's going to be impossible going cold turkey, but would Allah forgive someone who deeply is resentful but still does it sparingly under conditions that harm ones concentration. please HELP!!

From my understanding of things, it's not haram or halal. It's simply not preferred but is tolerated if it prevents you from doing something worse, like committing adultery.

The way that everything Islam teaches and everything Islam forbids has great wisdom behind it. If we take even the tiniest of commands and study it we will find in it numerous benefits, whether it be regarding health issues, psychological ssues or anything else. And the amazing thing about it all is that through Islam, Muslims knew of so many of these benefits since 1430 years ago, many of which have only recently been dicovered and proven by science. And the way that Islam is not just a religion but a complete way of life. The Qur'an itself is an amazing miracle, in it we find the solution to any problem that has ever arised. When I recite the Qur'an, or listen to it with the heart and mind, the feelings that I experience I cannot express through words. It is a feeling that can only be understood through experience. Many times i have recited the Qur'an during times of hardship and unease and the very words that this special book contains were enough to bring instant comfort. There is so much more to say as to what makes me know Islam is the true religion but it is a never ending list.

in the name of Allah the (Most) Merciful

see my friend at first I'm married and i used to do masturbation before my marriage
after marriage i traveled to another country to work away of my family
so some times i do it also(because that case of work away of my family)
what i want to say is
I READ a lot of books and Fatwa (advisory opinion) about
this subject and i will give you what i was learned from that all
at first there are 3 opinion in that case
1- forbidden at all even in any case
2- allowed in that Case you will do commit adultery so you do it to keep away from wrongdoing
3- the third opinion say that it's OK but it's unpleasant in the cases that you will do it to keep your self away from doing the wrong thing

i told you what i learn from books and i told you what I'm doing
you have to evaluate you situation and do what make you away from prohibited things

Allah bless you
thanks

Masturbation is OK in my opinion. There is no direct evidence from Quran and hadeth on this topic that is trustworthy.

All you will hear is the understanding of people who consider themselves "knowledgeable".

Do that in moderation though because too much of anything is not good. Enjoy and have fun.

I am not Muslim, but I have studied Islam somewhat.

I can't imagine how that would be a serious offense; I can't recall any mention of masturbation in the Quran. If it was a serious offense, why wouldn't the Quran mention it?

I wouldn't be surprised if it's covered in Hadith: there seems to be Hadith that cover everything. But Muslim scholars disagree on which Hadith is reliable and which isn't.

on one hand (no pun intended), allah says to enjoy his gifts such as food. we enjoy food through the sense of smell and taste and touch. thus, masturbation is not only moral, it is actually encouraged. it is a gift from God. it would make no sense for God, knowing our shortcomings as humans, to bestow with a gift as tremendous and critical as masturbation, then disallow it. that would make for a stupid and cruel god. like saying, well, "i have made these wonderful delicious apples, but you cannot eat them.." no real god would create outlets for enjoyment than take it away to test our commitment to him. what a ridiculous concept.

this should also put to rest the stupidity behind diet laws such as not eating pig or whatever. so stupid the people who follow them!!!! GOD!!

It's okay to masturbate as long as your not thinking about teddy bears.
