hmmm...do they have children?

I would simply listen to the comment, thank them for their suggestion and go about my business. If it was constant nagging, I'd make them aware that I make them aware that I didn't appreciate it. It's your child and you're the parent. Raise him or her to the best of your ability. Unless the boyfriend/girlfriend was a parent of my child, their opinion and criticism doesn't matter.

Listen to what they say, but ask him/her to stop politely.
If they continue, make it well known you don't like their inputs.
If they still continue, tell him/her you can't abide by the way they treat you with their constant criticism.
