I have been to http://www.theagilerat.com/ But I do not have the stuff to make the stuff and how to teach it to my 1 year old rat and my 12 week old rat. Is my 1 ywar old rat too old? Or not? Please help me out. I have put "rat agility equipment" but people do not make it and sell it so I am kind of stuck on what to do. I am making a few things out of legos but it is not very sturdy. And they are both females.

Last night I started with the pausebox, window jump and standard jump. Alls you have to do is (for there anyways..) calll her name and praise her when she jumps over, more of half climb and half jump. Mine I only praticed for like 1/2 hour and she runs!!

I was actually looking at the same site today, and was going to ask my husband to make me some stuff out of wood. Otherwise I'll raid my daughter's toybox and use the wooden jumps and stuff she has for her play horses. Agility is something I thought my rat, Minerva, would have fun doing. Not quite sure how I'm going to teach her-but I though I'd kind of lead her with treats-maybe make a trail first with one of her favorite foods, and gradually decrease the amount. Your 1 year-old isn't too old-rats are naturally intelligent, quick learners and remain that way their whole lives.

Rodents are born with natural agility! You can make simple toys out of a piece of rope or a small board or many other things if you use your imagination. The key is to make sure that your animal is safe. Make sure that if they fall or loose balance they have a safe landing spot...like over a bed. Rodents are great climbers and a lot of fun to watch. Offering your rats mental stimulation is a key to good health at any age.
