Yes! I hate gift cards. They are the easy way out. If your going to do that I would rather have the cash!

I'm not a guy, but I'll answer my opinion.
Honestly, I wouldn't be that upset. Giftcards rock! It's better to get a giftcard than something you don't want, & even the closest of lovers occasionally give a gift that the other doesn't want. If you are worried about it appearing impersonal, why not make it part of a little gift basket or attatch a smaller gift to it?
For example, if you are giving him a giftcard to Blockbusters, you can either tape it to the underside of a movie & give it to him or you can make up a goodie basket of candy, popcorn, & other snacks he likes to eat. It really is the thought that counts & if you try you can make a giftcard seem like the best gift in the world!

No, definitely not. She wants you to have something you need and can use. The best way to do that is to give a gift card.
Suggest that you go shopping together for that "perfect gift" with gift card in hand. After all, it's the thought that counts!

It would depend on the amount of the gift card because if was for something like a PDA or New Cell phone. I would like to pick something I could customize. there fore a gift card for something like that it would be O.K.

No - some men are notoriously hard to shop for, myself included. Gift Cards are nice because they can be used for lots of different things or as part of a larger purchase.

depends on where the gift card was for. if it was for your favorite store, then i would think that she put some thought into it. if it was for, like Walmart, then i would not think there was much thought into it.
are you hard to shop for? sometimes us girls just have a hard time figuring out what to get you guys!

Yeah, I'd be happier if she just baked me some cookies or something. I can get a gift card from my boss at work... it's rather impersonal.

No, I would just think that she was:
a) had to hurry
b)did not know what you would like, and didn't want to get a bad present, so just got a gift card to get whatever you want
