So, I posed this exact sentiment before, and since I forgot to post in the form of a question, somebody reported it as a violation. So, I am asking for your feedback once again.... The Bible, and Jesus tell followers to love others as Jesus loved us. And even to PRAY for our enemies. To turn the other cheek, and that if someone asks for your jacket to give them also your shirt.
It seems this country (USA) particularly is full of purported Christians who only pass judgement on those not in exact line with their own beliefs, this includes people of other religions, and even those of other demoninations of Christianity, which in and of itself is against what the bible tells us, we are supposed to stand together as Christians. Instead of turning the other cheek when attacked, we turn our back when others are attacked, and oft times even do the attacking. 30 million children a year die of starvation, and Christians are some of th wealthiest ppl in the world, why not do something good?

Sysiphus, Have you ever even read the bible? Jesus told us that we can perform any of his miracles with faith in him, he TOLD us to heal others.... by the way, since when are all the lepers running around naked?
I don't know what good it would do us to walk on water, but Jesus proved with Peter that with faith in Him alone, we can walk on water, Peter walked on water by his faith in Jesus alone.
Maybe we can't multiply fish, but we CAN refrain from buying that new big screen or IPod, and then again, maybe we CAN multiply fish, by our faith in Christ.
And christian LITERALLY means Christ-like. So that seems to say that if you are going to call yourself one, you should try to BE christ like.
As for sinners emulating the sinless, We are supposed to turn from sin. If we tried to emulate the sinless we might at least half succeed.
Why NOT try to fly? The Bible says that with God ALL things are possible.
I suspect that you are exactly the type of "christian" I am speaking of.

The person who reported your initial question to Yahoo Answers was probably one of those Christians you spoke of, and the guilt inside him made it impossible for him to look at such words..... by the way Sysiphus, the Hippies are right, Jesus did say that all Christians SHOULD do all of those things you listed as "impossible".... hehe, naked lepers.... so I guess you lose..... next time answer a question you know something about, dingleberry

you make a good point. I didnt know christians are the most wealthy. They are indeed obligated to do good to the least of our brothers, by clothing them feeding them, supporting them by a montlhy donation to the particular orginazation that helps the poor. We are also responsible for helping the unborn, by supporting right to life causes, voting pro life ALL THE WAY INSPITE of there economic promices to help our pocketbooks. If we vote pro choice votes we are also guilty of the abortions done, sadly enough legally. To be a christian is a hard and narrow path, but we must walk it. if we want to be in heaven some day.
For myself, I support a boy in honduraras and have for years now, I give to catholic charities that care for the poorest of the poor, I give what I have when I have it to right to life organizations. I am christain ,catholic, but I am far from wealthy. Im obligated to do what I am enabled to do.

The key word in your question is try. We will always fall short of the example Jesus set, but like you said we must try.

Then none of our presidents have been Christians. They love to get into wars. Jesus would never have done that.

I also agree.
Christians really need to BE Christians. It isn't just a title, its an act of kindness, love, support and holiness.
