Ive seen fighting styles called pitfighter.....whats that mean?

Nothing specifically.more a fanciful name to do with being a no rules stylist.
There were certainly pit fights or pit fighters historically. It just meant any contest or competition held in a big hollowed out area, or literally a hole in the ground, with people standing around watching.

Pit fighting is not a school or style. It's just a term for people who have fought in a Pit fight. As someone above pointed out, it stems from the fact that these no rules, use any attack types of human c0ckfights were held in a pit as opposed to the UFC's octagon arena or a boxing ring.
