To add: I do have a prescription, and my sample was tested twice. Same result. Codeine AND Morphine.

I already did show my prescription, and they still wanted to know why morphine was showing up. What should I do?

Well what was positive was the drug that shows up as morphine is associated with all types of pain killers like Vicoden and Tylenol 3. Try asking the doctor why is this happening because I dont know where you got the pills from but if you got them from a friend they might have given you something else then Tylenol 3

Check it out! "morphine' "codeine" The base line drug that helps to kill pain is present in both these products! Did you tell them you were taking codeine? That would have explained the morphine derivative!

When codeine is consumed by a human being, it gets metabolized by certain organs and certain enzymes. It just to happens, whenever your body metabolizes codeine, a small % is turned into morphine, therefore answering your question, codeine trully does contain morphine, when speaking of a human consuming it

ahh maybe because they are in the same class of drugs.Codeine (INN) or methylmorphine is an opiate used for its analgesic, antitussive and antidiarrheal properties. It is marketed as the salts codeine sulfate and codeine phosphate. Codeine hydrochloride is more commonly marketed in continental Europe and other regions.

Codeine is an alkaloid found in opium in concentrations ranging from 0.3 to 3.0 percent. While codeine can be extracted from opium, most codeine is synthesized from morphine through the process of O-methylation.

About a tenth of codeine is metabolized into morphine. As a matter of fact, that's probably how it works.

Codine and Morphine are in the same "family". Their tests do not distinguish between them. When being drug tested, typically they ask you to list any medicines you are on. Did you list the Tylenol 3?

codeine is an opiate and will show up on a "drug of abuse" panel. if you have a prescription you can submit it, and that will get you out of hot water. if you don't have a prescrition, you're pretty much screwed.
