Depriving the body of anything it needs can negatively effect your weight loss efforts. The body needs water for a variety of reasons: to properly metabolize foods, to properly regulate your body's temperature, to maintain optimal kidney and liver functioning, to keep bodily secretions (in mucosa areas especially like mouth, for example) moist, to maintain normal functioning of immune system, etc.

Need I go on?

You can get some water from the foods you eat and other drinks but what ARE you drinking?

Tea, coffee, and soda are all poor substitutes for water. Why? Caffeine is a diuretic which means it'll make you excrete water even more. (This is why tea, coffee, and soda make you pee). Even decaffeinated coffee or tea has SOME caffeine, plus soda and coffee have other substances making it less ideal. Tea has health benefits, but not in lieu of water.

If you're not crazy about water by itself, try it iced. I don't like plain water and rarely drink it but I LOVE iced water (we're talking 95% ice and the rest water) and I can drink that all day. You might add a little flavoring like lemon or lime in the water to make it more palatable. If you MUST use something like Crystal light- just diluted down.

Juices can be a good alternative in moderation, but the high sugar content in juice makes it something you want only 1-2 servings per day. Ideally you need 6-8 cups of water per day.

Pay attention to your body's cues- is your skin dry, lips chapped, mouth commonly dry or cottonmouthed, constipated (yeah- part of being dehydrated), skin mottled, eyes dry, etc. All these are clues that your body isn't well hydrated and when not well hydrated- it is not functioning at optimal levels and THAT will be detrimental to your weight loss.

'Nuff said?

WATER is very important for your body, and your growth!
stop drinking soda and other stuff, and drink more water.
if you don't like the taste of water, which is kinda weird, because it really has none, then add some crystalite or lemon or oranges to it.
but water is very important to your growth, and daily life!!
does the term "brain damage" or "impaired growth" mean anything?
that is what can happen, besides you developing other types of infections, or disorders without enough water.
your body functions normally when you have enough water.
you should be drinking 8-10 glasses a day, and when you are active, more.
**if you want to lose weight, exercise, eat right, and get enough sleep. and drink lots of water. that is in every advice you will hear from any trainer, professional workout person, and doctor. if you want to lose weight, be responsible, so you don't have any problems later.... if you don't believe what I have wrote, ask any professional trainer, or doctor.
you are too young to worry about your weight, you should worry about your development, and growth. join a soccer team, cross country, or other athletic sport to lose weight.

you can get water from other sorces too, tea, ice tea, cola, milk 2%, jello, kool aid, most fruit are full of water such as the different types of melons, some vegetables contain water exp cucumber and other tubeular gords. so you have been getting water just not plain water. so try eating jello or drink juice. but if you can tolerate just a little bit try to drink plain water. I was always told it is good to flush out your kidneys and it helps to fill you up when dieting. soup which because of the water content will help you to fill fuller quicker. so eat clear soups it will help you loose weight too.
