Update! its about 4:25 rite now, and i just went in to check on him: his tail is bobbing when he breathes a little, and he keeps cracking his beak--making a cracking sound with it, i mean--and he is twitching his head, while also closing his nictitating [sic?] membrane(s) in his eye(s) every few seconds....thanks for your help!

Call the vet, sweetie. If they are not there, call the emergency number on their answering machine. Try to stay calm . . . I know it's hard. You need more professional help for your birdie than you can find here on Answers.

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out.

I could appear round, see if any person used to be looking, if no longer, select it up after which zoom over to my buddy Eat an Apple Drink a Snappel's residence besides I could deliver a bottle of well wine due to the fact I am no longer so much of a lager drinker. I would purchase an I-track card for my teenage son. And if there used to be any leftover, I'd positioned it within the financial institution so I'd have a few to spend later. These days, ya gotta stretch that $one hundred.00 up to viable. And sure, I have had men and women thieve plenty more cash from me than that on intent, so I could select it up with a transparent moral sense figuring that if I wasn't intended to uncover it, it could no longer be there! ? ?

Emergency vet right away...preferably an avian vet. 9 1/2 is old for a parakeet. They are susceptable to some of the worst bird diseases. Sorry, it doesn't sound good.

You can try taking it to the vet, but it usually stresses them too much. I hate to say it, but I think your Budgie is dying. Put the cage under a lamp for warmth, cover it and make a soft place for the bird to rest in and just keep the birdie quiet. There isn't really much that you can do for the little creatures. I'm sorry.

First off , Birds can not vomit .. So whatever is on his face isn't that . Second , I think its time if you know i mean , he's old , and has lived a full life . Bring him to the vet tomorrow and see if the vet can give him anything to make him comfortable in his last days with you ..

or Maybe he's just sick , keep him warm til you can get him to the vet ..

Good Luck

You need to take him to the vet immediately (preferably an avian vet) Once birds start showing signs of illness they are already very ill and laying on the cage bottom is defiantly a bad sigh.

Call your vet, or head to an emergency vet clinic. Check the phone book or on the internet for 24 hour vet clinics in your area.

Good luck, sweetie and I hope your little buddy gets better soon.

Please take the bird to a vet immediately. The problem may be illness or the bird ate something that made it ill. The vet will know what to look for and what to do. I hope it is nothing serious. Good luck

Your bird needs to be examined by a certified avian vet immediately.

"Vomiting is always abnormal, and your veterinarian should be consulted. Birds that are vomiting and have other symptoms, such as diarrhea, lack of appetite or lethargy require immediate attention.

There are many causes of vomiting in birds. Vomiting can be caused by diseases of the digestive tract or can occur due to toxicities, disease of the nervous system or metabolic diseases. There are many contagious diseases that cause vomiting, so it is important to inform your veterinarian of any potential contact – direct or indirect – with other birds. Possible causes of vomiting in birds include: obstruction...toxins...bacterial infection...viral infections...yeast infections...cancer...metabolic disorders...neurologic disorders...diet...
Your veterinarian will recommend specific diagnostic tests depending on the severity of the vomiting or if other symptoms are present. In almost every case, birds that are vomiting require extensive diagnostic testing."

Birds do vomit, but your bird sounds very sick to me. That would be a pretty good age for a parakeet. Sounds like he has a respiratory infection, and if you don't get professional help soon, I fear he won't make it. Oh my goodness, you made me cry.
