You cant spot work a area to lose weight in the area. So doing situps with the hope of losing your tummy isnt really going to work.

To really lose the fat, you just need to run/ do cardio. Once you lose the fat, situps and other exercise will build the muscle to make it look good.

And situps are bad on the body. Crunches are better. But there are a whole bunch of exercises that work your abs that are much more effective than situps/crunches.

If you have gym equipment captain's chairs are great. You can do leg lifts, the swimmer, crunches, the plank. Also exercise ball opens several new ways to work your abs.

Get yourself some ankle weights. I do situps twice a day once in the morning and once before bed. I start off doing 8 sets of 25 for a total of 200. Thats 400 a day, then increse by 25 slowly. Within 3 weeks you should see results. From there your diet plays a role in that too, eat eggs and plenty of meat, drink juice and water frequently. A secret effect, walk like a model with sucking in ur gut. Dont make it obvious cause you'll look silly. within 4 days your midsection should crunch and feel sore. Good Luck!

Yes, they do, but the people I know who have flat toned tummies from doing sit ups do HUNDREDS every day. (One friend who really toned up in a few months worked up to 1000 per day). Gym equipment that can take the strain off back and neck are helpful and make them much more pleasant and quick to do.

I do 150-200 per day with little results so you have to do a lot (more crunches than situps) to really see the results. Start small, work up. Find a number you can do with little discomfort to your back consistently. As with any other exercise program- consistency is key.

Good luck!

P.S. another good thing to add would be planks- basically in push-up position and holding 30 seconds at a time (work up). These are more isometric but help with endurance.

depends on the effort you put into the program you're following really and just how 'healthy' you're eating....some people think they're eating healthy but then drink carbonated beverages(and yes diet pop is also garbage)

you cant actually reduce weight in a given area...your physiological makeup decides where it drops weight first/last

you wont see results just doing sit ups....and it all depends if you do the sit ups properly....most people dont
