How does your faith in God help you cope with reality and the real world? Does God protect the faithful more than the faithless? Or does faith have anything to do with being fortunate or unfortunate in life?

i don't believe in God because i have no fear of life itself -i choose to rather be on a spiritual level---i do think every religious person has certain fear that which they have no control over ---psychologically because we all feel vulnerable and very mortal to evils --------in the third world countries many religious people need God psychologically to cope because their minds are structured into a system where life is ascetic, and generally unpleasant, and God is the only way to escape ---look at the quality of life there....in America there are generally more atheists because people are living life to a greater quality and are more cultured to think onto practical existence

Because people would rather think that we were created for a purpose, and that our lives actually have meaning than if everything just happened by some magical chance. All so, if you believe that God wants you to have a purpose in life, you are motivated to do good, and to follow what you believe in.

I am not completely sure about the second question, but I believe that if you trust god he will provide for you. God doesn't necessarily protect the faith full more in this life, on the Earth, but the faithful will be rewarded when they get to heaven.

It is good that some people have a strong connection with the spiritual and a uniting spiritual force to help guide them. Not everything is under our control. Leaving things that are beyond our control to a higher power we can trust, is important to some people and used successfully as part of drug and alcohol programs. A lot of strong and helpful people are helped by their beliefs. Maybe some people do alright without believing, and do not draw their strength from close ones that believe in the spiritual, but an awful lot of people do. Religion could be so much better, if it would be less stuck in the past, and more open to the best in spiritual ideas and training devices. It could be a better coping device, and developer of more morality and character in people and the world.

Of course God protects his own kids. What a silly question! Wouldn`t your parents protect you more than the kid down the street? It has everything to do with faith. God acts according to YOUR faith, If you have no faith, you get NO actions. He doesn`t even see you.. So really Non believers are right. For THEM, there is no God.. I am sorry..

The Holy Spirit is our comforter. He brings us peace and joy and blessings beyond the wildest imaginations. I am blessed in the city, blessed in the fields, I am blessed going out, and blessed coming in.. Does that mean I have no trials and sorrow ?? Of course not. We are a natural beings and as such subject to natural laws..
The spirit or essence of us, is what lives on after the body fails.. That is what God is concerned with.. Your inner person..

I wish you peace and God`s blessings from Texas <><

The thing is you see this as a weakness. But at the time of death when death personified comes to rip you from your mortal body and drag you down what will you do to cope. We will not have to endure this because God will come to get us being we served Him with love and devotion. Yes Gods protects the faithful but we still get karma for doing sinful actions. But it is adjusted for us to learn our lessons. The atheists are getting automatic karma without adjustment. This is simple for the simple to understand. I suggest you read the Science of Self Realization by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada, which the scientific mind can understand Universal Truth.

The Bible says that God causes rain to fall on the just and the unjust. So, following God does not determine fortune.

God does not help me cope with reality, but causes me to see reality for how it is. Instead of merely coping, He gives me victory in all circumstances. That does not mean all goes well, but that all goes well within me. So, if adverse circumstances arise (and they do), He is there to see me through and strengthen me.

Faith in God has nothing to do with coping with this life but coping with comes after it.

We all need God to save us. "Some" people just can't seem to grasp that fact.

God SAVES the faithful - He doesn't guarantee protection in this world (consider His prophets and martyrs)

Mat 5:45 That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Ecc 9:11 I returned, and saw under the sun, that the race [is] not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to men of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all.

Interesting. My faith doesnt nessicarly help me "cope" with life but let's me know when this one is over...that it's not the end that there is more to life and death than what we experience here.

God loves everyone...he guides and blesses everyone, just have to accept the blessings!

I believe that is true, and I am a Christian who depends on God to cope.
