Choose Kingspan Kooltherm K17 plasterboard.

It is plasterboard with insulation attached to up. I believe you can get upto 67mm of insulation on them.

OOOH, Sound is a fun one. There are many types that you'll have to deal with. Some are carried by waves, and some are carried by materials. It may not be enough to just add a wall. You must make sure that your new wall is isolated from the existing wall, floor, and ceiling as best as you can. Simple sill sealer will work with primarily a friction fit construction. Between the two walls, you may use batt insulation or leave an air space. The insulation will help more than air. On the interior surfaces you may use a sound absorbing material such as homasote. For you wall use more batt insulation. For your side of the wall, either a heavy plaster/gypsum board or the like. Too go the next step, you can use a clip system to hang all materials, so they are free to vibrate slightly in thier area and do not transmit anything through the wall further. OK, so now that this wall is very over-engineered, good luck!

first of ..don't build the wall out of wood ..that transmit sound very well ..build it out of metal studs ..available from most builders merchants .. then look in yellow pages under insulation ..tell them you want soundproofing bats ...these are very dense ...all so quite heavy ..fit these in between studs ..filling every gap ..then fix plaster boards to the studs with self tapping screws ...available from where you got the metal studs
