I really am a horrible singer. My friends have told me to shut up and I really wanna sing good. I've heard that you are just born with a voice to sing, but I NEED to get better! There is a chorus tryout thing in my school and I am afraid that they won't chose me. I sing like a squeaky mouse, I tell you!

I've admired Vanessa Hudgen's voice (her voice and how she looks, not the nasty thing she has done) a lot. I also know that when I sing good, I must put in some of my own style.

Do any of you know any good vocalization tips, if I can really get better, and if I will ever even a TINY bit sound like Vanessa?

I am 11 by the way, and I am thinking that the earlier I start singing practice to get a lot better, the better I will be in the future.

well u can start off by begging your parents for a private singing teacher. That will help u PLENTY. Also, if u can't do that, begin with warm ups so that your voice doesn't strain. Afterwards, practice with different variate of songs, not just Vanessa's songs. Hope you nail that choir tryout. good luck!

I'm afraid singing is either something you can do or can't do. I too make a dreadful noise, so I went for singing lessons; pricey ones at that. After two minutes of doing something called 'bars' I think, he told me that I'll never be able to sing and to forget ever taking lessons again with anybody. That really made my day. Now I only have a good sing along while I'm hoovering, which, of course, makes a much better noise than I do. Even in school assemblies people would tell me to 'shut up!'

Find a piano and a friend. See if when she plays a note, you can match it with your voice. Then your friend will tell you how well you did. Try it again, and again. If you missed most of the notes, you're probably tone-deaf. A lot of people simply can't hear the up and down-ness of their own voice.

This simple test will show whether or not you have any hope of singing. If you want to start singing practice now, you might go to the choir director and ask for the name of a private teacher you could hire to help you out.

It kinda depends. If you're tone deaf (i.e. can't carry a tune) then there may not be much you can do. But if it's just a matter of your voice not being as strong as you would like (you say you're squeaky) you absolutely can get better with practice, especially if you get some voice lessons. (A woman I know got lessons and sings MUCH better than she used to.) Private ones can be expensive, but if you belong to a church you could ask your choir director to give you some tips (or ask the choral director at your school....if he/she's nice, he/she'll do what she can to help you sing well enough to make the tryouts) Good luck !!!

Eleven is too young for voice lessons and pretty young for developing a particular style of singing. I would ask the chorus teacher to help you breathe correctly. Then keep the music choices simple with no more than an octave in range. (in you range).

If you cannot match pitch that is totally another problem which will need to be fixed by a professional.

Record your singing and play it back and listen to it. Critique it. Does it sound the way your intended? Does it sound as bad as you think, or is it better?
Practice will improve your voice, if you practice a lot and you listen to what you're practicing with. I would practice with a recording of a singer you like, as long as the song is within your range. Listen to your own voice closely and try to mimic the singer's. Periodically, record your own singing without musical accompaniment. Decide if you like your voice or not.

It's very possible to learn to sing well. You just need to know the right methods. Learn here https://tr.im/JXWSi

Singing teachers will cost money and can be expensive so they're not for everyone. Singing can be learned so it's not an "either you have it or you don't" kind of thing.

Whether you sound like crap or you're decent, I recommend this singing course. It's one of the best methods to learn to sing well in a short amount of time. It's all about using efficient techniques that work.

Practicing works of course. I think is just as important to be confident. When you sing with confidence, you sing with enough air behind it. Just belt it out, sing it loud sing it proud. that is how you'll find your true voice. Then at least you'll know what you are working with.
Good Luck
