OCD is typically treated with Luvox, generally in higher doses (250-300). Luvox is an older SSRI, and is also a good anti-depressant.

It can take up to 12 weeks to start feeling the effects, and even longer (as doses are raised slowely to avoid side effects) to get the full effect. It may not cure OCD, but it can cut down on the strength of the symptoms and the level of distress.

Sometimes one medication alone doesn't do the trick. Many Psychiatrists will mix a couple medications to help. It can be a real challange to find the right dose and best mixture for you.

Also, OCD can be treated using Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. You may want to look into that as well.

Good luck!

Potent may not be the "right" thing that is going to work for you.
And people on Answers may not be the right source of info.
Unless you work with a psychiatrist - MD
as both your source of prescription medications
and who will work over time with your body and chemistry
AND you continue to take the medications daily for a period of atleast 3 mo. just to get started to see IF it works correctly for you,
Then, you have not really given it a fair trial
What is absolutely necessary - given that you have more than one diagnosis - is to FIND the correct combination of medications of medications -- your custom dosage --
THEN to follow-up with TAKING THE MEDS LONGTERM while getting effective THERAPY. If money is a problem,
go to your local Mental Health Clinic and ask if they can adjust or modify what you pay. Some community hospitals have programs that will provide psyc meds for little or no fee.
Walmart and other big stores offer $4 prescription drugs for numerous generics.

The meds will help to hold back some of your symptoms which will assist in lowering your stress level so that you are able to address your problems, shrinking them in therapy.
After you have learned some new coping skills through your therapy, there should be less of a need for the medications than there is right now. Some may be temporary and others may need to be continued longterm so that you can manage your life in a healthy way. So, start with the Psychiatrist.
