50% of all Muslim girls in Afghanistan and certain other Muslim areas consumate their marriages with their older husbands
before reaching puberty. This is why 50% of all Afghani women are physically challenged.
It is sad and one of the many reasons that this religion must leave the 7 century and come to the 21st.
It is just one more reason that western values must prevail.

Not a bit, and I agree with you. Fourteen hundred years ago, things were different and society behaved in a different manner. Up until 100 years (or less) ago, children were taught to be able to manage a household and families at a young age. Most likely everyone's grandmother or great-grandmother got married at an age we'd find unimaginable, and 1400 years ago it was quite normal (Aisha was even engaged to someone else and broke it off before marrying the Prophet at what scholars disagree upon between the ages of 9 and 20-something). However today it's a completely different aspect, where we can't even get an 18 year old to clean up his own room, and where some women hold off on starting families until in their 30's, just the moment when a woman's fertility declines. Having sex with a 9 year old is strictly illegal (in most places) and is NOT acceptible in today's society. A man who considers doing so has NO place within that society.

I disagree with him saying he would have sex with a nine-year-old today, as today societal values have changed greatly and that would just make you a pedophile. However, calling Mohammed a pedophile is wrong. As Happily said, "It was done with consent of her parents and in accordance with acceptable social norm of that society." What many people fail to realize is that at that time period, getting married at such a young age was perfectly acceptable. and women did not even have much right in choosing their husbands. It was all arranged by parents.

As if a 9-year old could appear to be a mature woman! Sheesh! You're absolutely right about Happily! Not only that, but he married her when she was SIX! He waited until she was 9 to have sex with her. Big deal! She was still a little girl!!
