Epstein Barr Virus (EBV) can last for many months.

Most cases of enlarged lymph nodes are from a reactive lymphadenopathy - perhaps a viral infection.

There are a few details I'm not entirely clear on here. Your doctor could do / have done a confirmatory test to diagnose EBV - but you haven't mentioned if this was done.

If you are worried about the possibility of cancer, you had best see your doctor.

Lymphoma does not always show up in blood tests and it can progress over the course of a year. However, what you are describing is very unlikely to be cancer.

Lymph nodes swell up when they're filtering something like viruses. My friend had something similar to this and it turned out she had herpes and just wasn't showing normal symptoms for it. If you've had sex recently you might wanna get that checked out. Unfortunately, the tests for it are not 100% positive unless you're having an outbreak at the time. You should go in for further testing. Make sure yous tay on your doctor about getting the information back to you. I had a bladder infection once and had a urine test done and I had to call my doctor 8 times before he told me I had a bladder infection. It was a kidney infection by then and it was terrible. But make sure you always know the outcome to all of the tests taken and don't just assume if you don't get a call back then nothing's wrong.

I AM NO DOCTOR, HOWEVER, MY DAUGHTER WAS SCRATCHED BY A CAT THAT HAD INFECTION ON HIS PAWS AND SHE GOT "CAT SCRATCH FEVER". THERE WAS SWELLING IN HER LYMPH NODES IN HER ARM. SHE WAS sixteen AT THE TIME, HAD A FEVER FOR MONTHS, WAS TREATED WITH TETRACYCLENE, HAD THE NODE LANCED AND DRAINED, THEN STITCHED UP. SHE WAS SICK FOR 6 MONTHS AND HAD TO HAVE HOME SCHOOLING UNTIL SHE WAS WELL. THERE WAS NO SCRATCHING AS THE NAME OF THE DISEASE MIGHT IMPLY. SHE IS FINE NOW. SHE IS IMMUNE TO THAT PARTICULAR VIRUS NOW AND WILL NEVER GET IT AGAIN, WE WERE TOLD. I AM NOT SAYING THIS IS YOUR PROBLEM, BUT I WOULD CHECK WITH ANOTHER DOCTOR. IF THEY ALL SAY IT IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT, THEN JUST KEEP AN EYE ON IT TO SEE IF IT GETS LARGER--THEN I WOULD SEE A SPECIALIST TO MAKE SURE THAT IT IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT. GOOD LUCK AND HOPE YOU FIND THE ANSWER. DON'T MIND THE AVATAR, IT'S MY BROTHER-IN-LAWS COMPUTER I AM USING WHILE VISITING NJ FROM FLORIDA. TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF, FIRST, ALWAYS

Make an appointment with the doctor immediately. Not saying that it's anything, but early detection is the key to surviving. And Prayer.
