They can book it! Just look sometimes when they leave port and arrive at their destination. The times can be pretty incredible for the size vessels in question.

well they can take away my birthday and send me to sea for answering this one.. The USS Nimitz is capable of speeds in excess of 30 knots, and here is your proof, May 21st 1981 right before Midnight a Marine EA6B crashed on deck, killing 14 and wounding 44 people, we were 60 miles east of Jacksonville, Florida. By the time the fire was out and we were able to get speed up again it was 2 AM, we slowed down again off the coast of Norfolk Virginia before 2pm that day, it is 540 miles as the crow flies from Jacksonville, Florida to Norfolk, Virginia. so that equals just about 41 miles per hour which translates 35.6 knots, or 6.4 miles per hour faster than what is classified, and let me tell you that ship was shaking like it never had before, the whole thing was rattling like it was going to come undone, and I imagine that is the fastest any warship had ever been

sidewinder air to floor missiles go back and forth at mach 2.5 (1750 mph) have a style of 10 to 18 km (10 + miles) they go back and forth at about 29 miles a minute or just about 0.5 of one mile a 2d. those are carried on NATO tornado jets as usual armament. except you comprehend what a warhead includes of this is unfavorable skill is unknown. cruise missiles can carry a 150kt nuclear warhead or regular explosives. a one ton naval shell from a gun will penetrate 5 ft right into a cliff and obviously the detonation needs to be retarded to attend to this for optimal result, this will also stick with to a missile.
