He plants evidence that suggests that life stared through evolution. He plants evidence that suggest the earth is five billion years old. And then he says that anyone who doesn't believe in the literal truth of The Bible, is off to Hell. A place of unending torment. That is the work of a loving and just God?

I look forward to the one liners that explain nothing and the long Biblical quotes.

Actually Jordy, no I'm not an atheist, I just don't understand why anyone follows the dictates of organized religion. Think for yourself.

Exactly! That's why if there is a God, nobody is even close to understanding what God is about or what God wants or thinks. Using a book of stories written thousands of years ago by people, is not a very reliable way to explain the evidence around us. Good chance there is no God, but this can never be proved for sure.

>> He plants evidence that suggests that life stared through

He didn't. Just because man misunderstands and, therefore, thinks He must have -- doesn't mean He did.

He didn't. Just because man misunderstands and, therefore, thinks He must have -- doesn't mean He did.

Well, there's no such place as Hell, but let's skip that man-made misunderstanding. So, yes, any man whom insists on sticking to his own pre-conceived notions of the universe -- and won't give God an honest chance -- has earned what he has chosen -- yes -- eternal death. Jesus Christ Sacrificed Himself so that every man deserved better. But, man is still free to turn down that Gift and choose the only other alternative available without God in it -- eternal death.

>> A place of unending torment. That is the work of a loving
>> and just God?

No, that is the work of the devil and satan -- a deceiving murderer and the father of all lies.

God bless.

I think that everyone is too busy trying to defend there faith and to answer this girls question!

God never says this "he says that anyone who doesn't believe in the literal truth of The Bible, is off to Hell"

I highly doubt that anyone on yahoo has any proof of how old the earth is.

People need to quit listening to everything they hear on the TV and radio and even the Internet and find out for themselves.

Do not be swayed like the wind believing everything you hear.

Hell isn't a place you go after you die. It's the state many people that are living today constantly find themselves. "Hell" is the suffering most people feel daily through unnecessary attachment to their thoughts, their positions...basically the ego. To learn to live you must first learn to die... but not a physical death....an ego death. This is a hard concept so I can't really explain it here, and I'm not totally separated from my little "hell" anyway. but there are tons of spiritual teachings about this. "the kingdom of heaven is within", so if that's true then where is hell??? within!! self created!! "Going to hell" is the same thing that the romans and greeks and all kinds of silly little religions believe in including most christians, and even buddhist (my personal faith). but when you look at it on a deeper level, i don't think the masters of these religious were teaching this, it just got misinterprated by undeveloped people.
here are some bullets for you to think about:
1. Evolution is no longer a theory. Evolution DOES happen and has been done under scientific study with tiny fish, guppies i think, just for one example
2. God is not a HE. or a she. God does not share any human characteristics, we like to think like that cuz it makes us feel good, but its not correct. However IF this concept helps you, then use it! There isn't anything wrong with it if it helps you. But it sounds like you may be having trouble with it. Don't try to box god in!!! you can experience god, you can't think god
3. You are responsible for your own salvation and redemption. god can't really send us to hell, most of us are already there, at least intermittently. its up to us to get to heaven, but it doesn't happen after you die. it can only happen while you're alive...right here, right now. or the next now....or the next....
whenever you are ready, just remember.....you're already there.

This is simple and I am not even bashing,
Moses wrote the book of Genesis. Moses was probably one of the most EDUCATED men of the times as he was raised in the royal house and would have been taught what was known, including stories of other cultures as well as the Egyptians. He would have been acquainted with travelers from other educated cultures that came to Egypt to learn. The jews had no written books before Moses. Moses wrote what he thought those people could read, understand, and use. Moses had no way of knowing about modern science. If he had taken his people out of a very cultured country like Greece, it would be very different.

Religion is a very personal experience. I believe most of the Bible but I am able to think for myself as well. God plants these things to cause us to wonder and doubt. He wants us to choose to worship him on our own faith!

Well, why did God make the world look flat?
It's not flat, but for thousands of years, all intelligent people looked at the evidence at hand and believed that it was.
They were wrong though weren't they?
So, how is it that you want to blame God for scientists getting things wrong?

2007-12-03 18:16:44 · answer #8 · answered by Linda J 7 · 1 1

evolution is total BS.
according to scientists, you cant get life from nothing right?
well if thats true, it goes against every single law of evolution.
In order to be welcomed into the heavens, you have to have a relationship with God. If you've never attempted to grow with him and follow him, at judgment hes going to look at you like a stranger. It says that in the bible. read it. decipher it. learn from it. He is a loving God and I myself dont understand why he would let a child that he loves go to such a place like hell.
you're most likely an athiest right? well then why are you questioning God? if you dont beleive in him, dont even bother. let it go. Do you know why you cant let it go? because hes pressuring you to listen to him and you're ignoring him because there is no logic behind it.

hehe you reminded me of a Horrible Science book I read once a long time ago in which a kid asks a vicar 'what about all the bones and stuff - they prove evolution' and the vicar said 'that's just god's little joke, he put them there to fool you'

Lol!!

But really, people will say God put them there to test their faith. After all faith is nothing if it is not challeged and then still remains.
