I always liked New Balance running shoes. I pronate and they are good for this. I also am using Adidas. New Balance was more for when I was doing longer distances.

For me personally... I love the asics speedstar (and speedstar II) just cuz they're light as hell. But it would be a horrible shoe for some people because it doesn't provide a lot of cushioning or structure. I would recommend an Asics shoe (they're pretty much the best brand... Nike's kind of cheap now). This link should help: http://www.asicsamerica.com/sports/running/shoeFitGuide.aspx

I use Brooks Adrenaline gts 7, but that's because they have good stability which i need because i supinate. I've used like 5 pairs of them for cross counry already, and i LOVE THEM, they are soo confortable. Also they are light, and they're good too if you don't weigh a lot.
the 7's are just as good as the 6's, except they're like 40 bucks more. so it just depends on whether or not it's on sale.

asics are my favorite.
i started out in them, and have been using them ever since.
they fit my feet perfect, and provide all the cushioning and support i need.
i recommend asics to you.
