No; and only an idiot would do that.
Even in combat zones, the military keeps arms rooms and ammunition stores kept separate and secure from one another. Individual soldiers keep their ammo OUT of their weapons unless they're in a fight, or about to face a likelihood of one.
If you're going to have firearms in your house, you'd damn well better have the respect for those weapons first before you even buy them, as well as the training to know how to handle them. You should also keep the ammunition stored separately from the weapon, both locked up securely and without easy access.

I'm not sure what pogue unit Brendon was in... But every time I left the wire a magazine was inserted and a round was chambered. When on the base at least one weapon was on me at all times, as well as a loaded magazine. There are no children in my home. I always keep a loaded weapon close by. That is my right, and I use it. I would have no hesitation in using it against any intruder who threatens my family or myself. I have the proper gear to ensure proper identification of my target, and practice often enough to know that I won't miss. In the proper hands a loaded weapon can be safe and effective. Don't listen to all this other crap about keeping your weapon unloaded and in fact useless in an emergency.

Absolutely not, but I have previously lived in a crime-ridden neighborhood and I cannot pass judgment on people who keep loaded weapons under the type of dire circumstances (young guys who threatened my children with guns; drive-by shootings, mobs who continued to break down our fence before we got a dog, etc) that we found ourselves in. Circumstances were made worse because my husband was deployed frequently and the druggies and house watchers knew it.
I had a friend in the same neighborhood who kept a loaded gun, but I was always afraid for her children.
FYI--- If you want to buy a cute little house in a cute little neighborhood, check the police incident reports first!!!

1, what does this have to do with the military.
2, yes I have a loaded weapon in my house
3, an unloaded gun is useless for self defense unless you plan on beating the intruder with it.
4, keeping ammo and the weapon in seperate areas of the house is also useless. What are you going to do when someone breaks into your house, call a time-out while you rummage all over your house to find where you put your gun, then where you put the magazine, and then where you put the ammo. Plus you then have to take time to load the magazine, and then call time-in. SORRY IT DON'T WORK THAT WAY!!!

I have lots of guns in my house, however none of them are loaded, I also have children here though.
I dont under any respect critize those that do though. If I didnt have children i'd keep loaded weapons in the house, i'm certified to use them, why not?

Yes I do, because when I am half asleep and in my PJ's I don't want to be thinking "where is that damn ammo" when a stranger comes a knocking
I have dogs and a motion light, with double locks on my doors. I live in the country where emergency services will take quite a bit longer to get to my house than that of city dwellers. When someone invades your home you must have the ability to defend yourself. The reality of life is there is very much a screwed up piece of our society that is hell bent on stealing your things, raping your wife, kidnapping your kids............or whatever.
I won't be a victim, I will make the other fool sorry that he thought is was OK to invade my "castle"

I write from the UK and the answer has to be No, that possibly accounts for around 99% of the uKpopulation at the present time,
Unfortunately guns are becoming more visible in crime situations here.
The percentage figure above,is only an estimate, the law abiding citizens would dearly wish the figure could be 100% and accurate

concern with leaving one chambered, is that in case you unload it to coach to a chum or to bathe it, etc. and then rechamber that around.... and you are trying this many times. you will slowly seat the bullet greater and greater down into the case, using friction because it chambers. as a consequence, you could eventual get it to the factor the place the stress will develop plenty which you have a chamber detonation. no longer exciting... fairly in the time of a self protection concern. i could save one chambered in any weapon consequently, yet fairly no longer in a Glock for the clarification you point out. A 1911 or comparable, perhaps, considering the fact which you could decock the hammer and this is single action, or you need to work together the risk-free practices. The Glock, for all functional purposes, has no risk-free practices. Revolvers rule for abode protection. do no longer could problem approximately any of this.

Got my Ruger .45 loaded, and on my nightstand. Yes, I have kids, too!! But, I was a weapons instructor for 8 years, and they know EXACTLY what they are doing with a gun. And, they have absolutely NO desire to handle it, look at it, or touch it because I take them out shooting all the time. Plus, they know I would bring down the thunder and lightning on them!!

My rifles all have a full magazine in them, but i do not keep a round in the chamber. Too much chance of an accident that way. Also at least two of my rifles have their bayonets out so if i cant work the action fast enough i sure as hell can stab someone.
