My 14 yr old daughter has acne, since she was 11. She has just been prescribed the Dianette pill, antibiotics and a topical gel for her face and back. Obviously, having acne has caused her to have low self esteem and she MUST wear foundation to school. Her GP has said as long as it is not oily, it isnt, and to put it on lightly which makes sense. I forgot to ask her what type of cleansing cream my daughter should use to take off her foundation after school - the GP also said to not use exfoliators which also makes perfect sense. Any advice for my daughter would be appreciated, thank you.

my son has been using pine tar soap for a lil over a month now. it has really helped clear it up. he had it really bad. huge sores on his face, back and some on his arms and chest. you can get it thru your pharmacy. it costs about $4 a bar and a bar can last 3-4 wks.

NATURAL ACNE PROTOCOL
1/ Never, ever touch your face.
2/ Use 3 facecloths to wash your face, one to soap on, one to soap off with very hot water, one to rinse off with ice cold water, in that order, once a day.
3/ If you are under 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A once a day with a full meal
4/ If you are over 18 take 5,000 IU of vitamin A twice a day with a full meal.
Do not get pregnant while taking vitamin A. Do not take any more, like Accutane, it will stop you growing.
5/ Never, ever. pick, squeeze or pop your spot. Read number 1 again.
6/ Do this for 90 days.
7/ Invest in a brand new pillow and 2 new or more pillow cases to double bag' your pillow. HOT wash every couple of days.

A bit of advice given to me as a teenager, a bit of science as I am studying allergic reactions and vitamin A is a part of that. A bit of research: I sat in a lecture at the back and watched the acne prone pick at their faces, those with the worse acne touched their faces 32 times in an hour, the clearest complexions didn't touch their faces even once. I have circumstantial evidence that acne is the result of dermatophyte transfer from hands to face...where it does not get washed off and is well fed by hormones, sweat a
nd oil...just a hypothesis... But it would explain why vitamin A is so effective as vitamin causes skin to remove dermatophytes.
The secret is never to touch the spots
Tips on how to treat acne and achieve perfect clear skin in as little as 7 days?

I've just written the answer out for your question for somebody else, so you're getting a short version. Lavender essential oil, one drop on finger end, rub on spots (as it's your daughter you can do it on a morning as well, it's a bad smell for a boy to be wearing at school!) Do on morning after wash, do after school after wash, NO MORE, spots will start to clear up in a couple of days; promise. DO NOT use something that just smells like lavender, it must be lavender essential oil. Just one drop each time. If your daughter starts to have problems getting to sleep, just do it on a morning. Do not do this if pregnant. Where I live most people have a full time job, family and mortgage by 14.

my daughter got acne when she was just 8. because she was so young she could only get cream from the doc. when she was 12 she was diagnosed with poly-cystic ovaries, she was given all sorts of tablets of her specialist but never the pill. however her GP gave her Yasmin pill and although this isn't as good as dienette it has helped balance out her hormones. i was treated with dianette for acne when i was 25 and it completely went away, it took a few months for it to work and i took it for 2years, when i stopped taking it the acne never came back. a real good foundation for covering up bad skin is Avon's soft matte moose, it looks real natural and isn't oily.

i had acne from when I was 11 and got rid of it at 20 after trying loads of products,
I tried something called MSM, it is for arthritis, but it has blood purifying qualities, you can get it from Boots or Holland and Barrett if you are in the uk.. it will take up to a month to take effect as it clears scarring.
I am taking some now as I do get the odd scar here and there, but it has cleared up again within 3 weeks
I hope this helps

If her face starts to dry out try using Vaseline (petroleoum Jelly). This will help with the break outs and it'll stop the dryness.
As far as cleansers try Nutrogena. I've had really bad problems with my skin the last few months and Nutrogena is the only thing that's working for me.
Good Luck
