this is solely coming from one of my group member's component in a project that we had to do on contributions made by Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. She was supposed to find contributions made by Christianity and this is what she has so far:
1) Created churches for worshipping God
2) Established church congregations to help others
3) Contributed to neo-poetry, drama, short stories, and journalism ( I think she is referring to the Bible)
4) Improved medical facilities
5) Improved methods of treatments and medications
I don't know whether it's me, but some of it feels inaccurate, so I was sondering if anyone can tell me which ones are true and which ones are incorrect. I have no idea where she got this information from. Also, I woud immensly appreciate it if you mention a few other contributions made by Christianity to other religions or today;s world.

That credits one religion with the accomplishments of mankind, the majority of which have never been Christians. So I'd say very inaccurate.
Religious jingoism rather than any sort of fact.

You'll find the first four already in place in ancient Rome. As for numbers 4 and 5, Christianity was the reason for the decline of medicine, civilization and education - this led to Dark Ages. It was "free thinkers" that broke from the Church that brought change in those areas back to levels even close to approaching the Romans.
Altars to deities predate written record, temples existed WAY before Judaism and Christianity.
I'm sorry, none of the listed items are correct. Thumbs Down if you like, history bears this out.

Your idea is a good one. Here are three others: 1.Judaism contributed monotheism, the idea that the future can be better than the present (i.e. the very concept of progress) 2. Judaism contributed the understanding that the Deity does not require human sacrifices. 3.Judaism is the parent-religion of Christianity and Islam. Together, those two religions' believers comprise the majority of the world's population. If not for Judaism, Christianity and Islam would not exist.

Contributions made by Christianity? That is interesting.Well lets see.
1. Most of the laws in the United States when it was founded were based on Blackstones Law whose basis was the Holy Bible.
2. Most of the great Universities in this country began as institutions where Gods word would be taught and Gods truth would be followed.( Most of these same universities have now rejected God and the teaching now is that he does not exist.)
3. Oil was discovered in the middle east because of what someone read in the book of Genesis.
4. Christians are the only thing on this earth that is holding Satan back at all. As bad as things are and as immoral as man has become it would be much much worse without the influence of Christians on society.

For every example, I can counter them with other examples.
1) Created churches for worshipping God
Which god? Some churches became government entities that restricted freedom of speech and killed non-believers (look at the Middle Ages).
2) Established church congregations to help others
Some priests participated in human rights abuses, including the Inquisition. There was a time when priests had the same kind of influence and control as politicians.
3) Contributed to neo-poetry, drama, short stories, and journalism ( I think she is referring to the Bible)
The Church was one of the richest entities in Italy. It paid for commissions that glorified the religion. But at the same time, artists were not free to introduce other opinions aside from official doctrine.
4) Improved medical facilities
And many Christians opposed vaccines when they first came out, ether for women in childbirth, and 1/4 of Europe died because church authorities believed the Black Death was a punishment from god, and ceased to study it (their methods of protection were ineffective).
5) Improved methods of treatments and medications
Many fundamentalists currently oppose stem cell research from embryos, freedom to have safe abortions, in vitro fertilization, and potential avenues of research.
Not everyone was negative, but religion is a mixed bag.

The above, plus schools, colleges and many of our major universities (example: Harvard). Also add to that a great amount of disaster relief.
Most of the major hospitals were created by various Christian organizations. Especially the Catholic-based ones. Just down the street from me is a very large hospital that does world renown work in heart and cancer. It was founded by Seventh Day Adventists.
To say otherwise would be just ignorance on parade.
BTW - Let us not forget the incredible advancements in science, technology, music and medical treatment by the Jewish people and Israel. It would blow your mind when you do a search on what they have come up with in the last century!

Yes, those are contributions made by Christianity, along with such things as the development of the study of genetics, the invention of the clock, musical notation, the distribution and preservation of classical texts, advances in architecture, and many others.

All of them are either false or not restricted to Christianity!
That has answered what you asked. However, If you are going to disguise a question you want to ask your self, but for some reason are too frightened to ask it, then you really must do better than that?????
