A wonderful book on the basics of Buddhism is, "It's Easier Than You Think" by Sylvia Boorstein. (Link below.)

The actual practice of Buddhism is even better than any book or reading. So find a Buddhist center near you. The wonderful people there will be happy to teach you everything you'd like to know. (Link below to Buddhist centers around the world.)

Good luck!

There are some great book on it at your local library, I'm sure. I recently checked out two on Buddhism, but have only read one. The answers you read on here will only be of the opinion of the person writing it and if they aren't a Buddhist or aren't learned on the subject that you will not be learning what you wish to.

Seriously, try the library.
