I agree with the majority of the answers posted, it is much worse than it has ever been
As a retired business man, who travelled on average, 1,000 miles per week by car,the sight of some of these youngsters/ and not so young drivers hurtling along in high powered cars completely disregarding other drivers and pedestrians,is disgraceful.
,But even more of a concern is the cretins who use a telephone whilst driving, the senselessness of this is beyond my understanding,
I was under the impression there was a law in force now to prevent this, am I wrong?

I think part of the problem is that a large number of high schools no longer have driver's education where they are taught not only the rules of the road but courtesy and proper following distance, signaling lane changes and keeping your attention on the road. In my part of the world, if I find someone tailgating me, three out of four times (over a period of four months) it is a young woman. Don't know why that is, perhaps her need to be close to someone on the scary road. Using the cell phone while driving is another issue around here as well.

Where I live we are starting to be overrun by Californian's so its getting far worse. And with winter coming its going to get even worse due to the Californian's don't know how to drive, let alone drive in snow. These are the same people that can't seem to find the turn signal lever in their cars, and pull out in front of another vehicle and then get angry when they get they're $80,000 POS car ran over.

I've been driving for 51 years and it is getting much worse. some of it has to do with many times more cars and the people being constantly rushed.

It is definetly far worse. With people listening to distracting music, watching DVDs, talking on the cell phone. Lives so busy that they are drowsy drivers. People feeling more pressure to get places and thinking that they are more important than others, causes rudeness, Passing on double yellow lines, speeding.... Hate being out on the road.

Worse. It's one more symptom of the general reduction in standards of behaviour - everybody knows their rights but refuses to accept that with rights come responsibility to behave with consideration for other people.

Hellllll!!!! Yeah!!!!.... People have no consideration at all when driving. They dont indicate (one of my biggest pet hates of drivers), so you're meant to be telepathic. They straddle 2 lanes, they have no idea of the width of their car so drive on the other side of the road and have to break sharply and pull over to avoid oncoming traffic. Some cant even talk and drive, or chose to ramage around in the passenger seat which causes erratic driving...There's not courtesy and alot of them make up the rules as they go along... Do you want me to go on...?? i have all night??

It is getting worse in my opinion despite all the technological and safety advancements.

It just goes to show that the driver is the key to driving safety.
