They'll see my triquetra necklace and ask what it is/represents.
They'll assume it's part of Satan, then I tell them it's not; it's based on Nature. Should I just not tell them and let them be ignorant and hide myslf (in a sense of not talking about it)? I really don't get how it's scary and that I'm aggressive when I say, "Where does this assumption of it being Satan come from? We do believe in our Lord Jesus."

Um...you may believe in your Lord Jesus but "we" do not. Wicca is a religion and Jesus is not a part of it.

I think you should answer their actual question. If they ask what your triquerta necklace represents, tell them that and nothing more. The word Wicca doesn't even need to come up.

Since I'm unsure what the triquerta means to you, I'll give the example of my own pentagram ring. When someone asks "What does that represent?" I say "The union of the five elements." Because that is exactly what the pentagram represents to me. A pentagram does not represent "I'm Wiccan." Now, someone may then ask if this has anything to do with religious beliefs, and then I say yes, and then it may come out that I'm Wiccan. But I find no need to throw that fact out there when its not actually answering the question at hand.

Your religion is your business. The next time someone comments on a piece of jewelry, like you triquetra, simply say it's an ancient Celtic design. There, that's true and all they need to know. You aren't going to change anyone's minds, and as Wiccans, we know that we shouldn't try to. Educating your close family and friends is one things, complete strangers is a whole separate issue!

If I were you, I would ignore the judgments. No matter what you say it will not make any difference to them. I am so glad that I do not believe in a "satan" and that I am not spending my time judging and living in fear.

I do not belong to any organized religion, but have studied many and I know that your explanation of Wicca, is correct, it is based on nature. I find it very interesting because I believe in Deva's, as mentioned in Findhorn, and I grow plants that nobody else can, because I talk to the nature fairies. Guess who is going to call me crazy and and see me going to "hell" and of course I am on the side of the "devil".

Peace and love,
Ignorance is bliss, so I just ignore them.

Most people are scared of things they know next to nothing about. It's sad they would listen to misinformation, yet too afraid to get the facts.
I guess they think you're aggressive 'cause you're so tired of having to explain it, hearing the Satan assumption. People openly say what their religion is, whether it be Christian or Jewish, so you shouldn't have to be shunned by being Wiccan.
Be proud of what you are and have no one bring you down.

I don't know anything scary about Wiccans, Pagans and even Druids. The problem is that outsiders just see a group of people practicing something different to them, so then they assume it's something bad or evil.
They tell your roommate their problem 'cause they're too scared to face you directly. Well, I'm facing you here and I just say, "Do your thing, girl!"

The gods of the old religion become the devils of the new. Thus, as Christianity swept through Europe and assimilated all the indigenous religions it encountered, it made devils out of their gods and goddesses to separate Christianity from them. This is how organized religion maintains it's followership, by creating evil out of everything that isn't of it's own scriptures. By doing so it prevents it's followers from investigating other religions that they might find more appropriate or in alignment with their own beliefs and feelings about deity.

Should you not tell anyone? You have to make that choice for yourself. I personally will educate anyone that asks me, but I don't go out of my way to discuss faith publicly.

I have come to accept the reactions (positive and negitive) when I am wearing clothing/jewelry with slogans/symbols of my belief or when I have reading materials in the sight of others.

If you are going to live in the open with your beliefs you will have to get used to the response you get from others. Some will be open some will be repulsed.

I am answering this as a Christian. It matters not what your stand is. If you take one people react. Sometimes irrationally sometimes even with hostility.

The assumption about Satan comes from the time when the Catholic church (the only Christian church at that time) taught that anything that wasn't about God had to be about the devil. I am a great believer in banishing ignorance, so I would not hide myself or sit idly by while people called me a satanist if that wasn't who I was. If they are scared by the truth, that's their problem.

I'm sure the problem has absolutely nothing to do with you. Whether you want to talk to people about your path is totally up to you, whatever you feel most comfortable with. Unfortunately we cannot control the reactions of others, and the world is full of ignorant people. Even if you clearly and kindly explain the truth to some people, they just don't get it. That is on them, not you.

i've heard about wicca but i never know exactly what is this wicca. i be glad if someone would tell me about it. i always tought wicca have something to do with magic.
people tend to get scared easily to things that they know little but usually once they know and understand then they don't feel scare anymore.
i guess you just have to be more careful in explaining this wicca thing to them or use different approach so instead of feeling scare, they interest to listen and find out.
