My mom is catholic.. and me and my bf go to church with her sometimes.. both of us are as well.. any way this is not question regarding regilion so much as morals..in our church there is a book that is kept where most churches keep the hyme book... every year they get a new.. and in it is the prayer for each time there is mass.. and hymes.. well when me and my bf got up to go out side for a minute.. she gave me the book and wrapped it in a sheet of paper and told me to take it.. i told her no way.. there are some things i just don't do.. it will bring about bad luck.. or karma which ever you believe in.. and that it is stealing from the church.. she told me it was not.. that they did not care.. so she wrapped it up in the paper and went to take communion.. and we left as mass was over as soon as communion was.. who is right on this one.. is it stealing..

If it wasn't stealing why did she wrap it in paper? I think you know the answer to that. I would encourage your mom and anyone to go to confession before taking communion to ensure that they are in a state of grace.

Also, leaving mass after communion is not recommended. I'm not trying to judge but it sounds like your mom has gotten a little lazy in her faith.

Is wrong. I'm sure if she ask if she could take they would let her, there is no need to take it without permission. I'm Catholic and some people take those books too, some don't. Also, about the confession thing she is supposed to go to confession if she considers herself a practicing Catholic. Age doesn't matter.

If you are religious, it wouldn't make sense to believe in karma. But in my eyes, taking anything that you don't own is immoral...

Books taken from churches aren't stolen, unless they don't want you to join.

Yes, it's stealing...........

Did it belong to her?

If "they" don't care, then there is no need to wrap it up, so to speak...........
