princecurtis7: did you notice that the text says in Leviticus chapter 11 that it is unclean because it chews its cud, but doesn't have cloven hooves. Rabbits do not chew cud, therefore that particular rule doesn't actually apply to them.

Please stop trying to confuse the issue with facts! Remember, this is God inspired, it's not supposed to make sense.

In the new testament it talks about unclean things. The only thing that is considered unclean is what comes out of a man, not what man takes into his or her body (evil words, excretions, unclean actions of the heart, sin).

Most questions about "clean and unclean" animals are in reference to Jewish dietary laws.

The rabbit is still on the list of unclean animals.

I am not Jewish, so I eat them with garlic and potatoes. MMMMMMM!!!!!

According to Judaism they are
but according to Christianity they're not because Jesus says as long as you pray over it before eating it it'll be fine.

Well since your are sincere about the qeustion as it seems to me I would like to answer. I respectfully submit a YES answer. I have to disagree with the doctrine being taught in alot of catholic or protestant churches except for a few. With reference to scriptures of the bible I will prove what I am saying and you be the judge. In the N.T. this is mentioned of forbidden and abominable things the church should not touch or consume. If you want the bible's answer here it is: The problem comes from a misunderstanding this controversal topic of the dietary law as mentioned in( 1 Timothy 4:4 ). Lets read verse 1-5 and then I will give some explanation as the Spirit leads me I pray. (1) The spirit speaketh exspressly that in the latter times some will depart from the faith giving heed to suducing spirits and doctrine of devils; (2) Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;(3) Forbidding to marry and commanding to abstain FROM MEATS WHICH God created to be recieved with thanksgiving of them that believe and KNOW THE TRUTH.(4) For every creature of God is good and nothing to be refused if it be recieved with thanksgiving:(5) FOR IT IS SANCTIFIED by the WORD of God and prayer. Please excuse me for how I put certain words in capital letters, it is not to thump someone but to bring out the obvious that hasn't been observed in these verses. In the first verse it describes the Spirit showing us a apostate condition of some. In the secound and third verse we see that those who caused it are describe as a religious unconscious group who forbids marriage( perhaps among their priest or people) and the eating of FOODS WHICH God created to be recieved(like certian fish). Not foods that was not created to be recieved but created to be recieved it talks about. If we want to know what foods among animals can be eatin, all we got to do is go back" to those things that was written for our example" like (LEV.11:& DUET.14:) Here the rabbit is mentioned unclean, so it makes since to me if it was unclean for those peculiar people then it should be for us. In verse (3) it states" that those creatures was to be recieved by them which believe and know the truth". Verse(4) tells us that every creature of God is good( in it's purpose)... (5) Says that it is sanctified (set apart/ made holy) by the Word of God and prayer. Now some may not want to agree with this point of view because of misunderstand certain other scriptures. Know let me ask anyone to would they believe it is ok to eat a scunk now or eat a magget sandwhich with cheese...umm...right ? No. I do not think anyone in their right mind would. Lets think as christains we teach our children to pray before they eat for we give thanks to God. What if they mixed a whole lot of unhealthy foods together that you know would make them sick would God bless it ? would you approve of it going into their young bodies ? Things like icecream with lots of chocolate and candy and other junk food. No, right. Even apostle Peter being told by God in vision to" Kill and Eat" refused three times. God did not force him neither did the dream ment what he thought it ment. It repersented the gentiles nations of the church in which many of us are. So I can firmly conclude Jesus wasn't eating or teaching us (Jew or gentile) to eat unclean meats but was speaking on unwashed hands and unclean hearts. (Acts 10:11-17,34-35 & Mark 7:2,14-16) That Jesus was a Jew and no one can dispute that Jews live by the dietary heath law God gave to Israel as a nation. Except for those that do what they want when no one is looking perhaps. I hope you understand under the light of scripture we have to take heed to what we put in the"temple of the holyspirit" (1 corinthians 6:19 & 2 corinthians 6:16 - 17) "And touch not the unclean thing and i will recieve you ".
