it is against Federal Law for an employer to fire you or otherwise discriminate against you( pay raises, vacation, promotions, etc) becuase of your reserve status, even if activated.

Yes, they cannot fire you if you join the military. Its against the law to fire someone for being in the military, its also against the law to refuse to hire someone for being in the military, and they also have to take you back if you have returned from deployment. They don't necessarily have to give you the exact job back, they do however have to give you at least the same pay and the same level.

By law they must let you have a job, that is materially thae same as the position you left (shifts, pay...).
In addition they must also give you any raise or bonus you would have been entitled to had you not left.

its the law, they have to keep you hired...they can put someone in your place, but they have to provide you equal or better employment.
