An emergency has come up and I have never had a passport but due to a death in the family, I need to travel in 2 days. I am a natural born US citizen, if it matters.

My condolences to you - It's possible in NZ or Australia if there is an emergency to get a passport in 2 days - but you pay top dollar for it! That won't change no matter what country you are in. Not sure about the US - but you better get off here and start the proceedings .. go get your photo taken, ring the passport office and ask them what to do, you need it NOW! LOL Good luck with it all

Call the National Passport Information Center at 1-877-4USA-PPT (1-877-487-2778) to schedule an appointment to apply in person at a Passport Agency.

Expedited Service: If you apply for your passport today and request Expedited Passport Processing, you can expect to receive your passport in about 3 weeks.

If you need your passport urgently, generally in less than 2 weeks, you may contact one of the Passport Agencies listed in the link below. All agencies take applications only by appointment. Please call in advance.

Back in the good old days, I was able to get a passport in 24 hours, now you'd really be lucky if you get one in less than 6 to 8 months.

The very best you could normally do would be ablut 12-14 days and you would have to pay extra money. So unless you have some kind of connections no its not possible.

No, its the government. Even if you pay extra to one of those passport services its going to be 2 weeks at least.

YES! you can. It is very difficult however to get an appointment in an urban center. You can pay an expediter. They make many appointments. Do not waste time. Try to get an appointment immediately.

Not if you're American. They have this rule when they let paperwork sit around and gather at least 7 weeks of dust before they do anything about it.
