Depends on how you sign up.

You can do a split option, which gives time between BCT and AIT.

For some MOSs you can do OSUT (One Station Unit Training) wher eyou do Baisc and AIT all in the same location and right straight through.

And you can do BCT in one location then ship directly to the other for AIT.

Your recruiter can give you details.

We get your orders for you next duty station (AIT) approx. 4 weeks before the end of your NOW 10 week Basic Trainng is over. You will get a pass the day before graduation and then after graduation you will be getting on the transportation for you AIT. HRAP doesnt pertain to Basic Training it is for after you have completed Basic Training.

First of all, you don't get sent to your unit fresh out of boot camp. They send you to rate training (school), so you aren't learning the basics of your rate on the job. Depending on when your next class is ready to start, you MIGHT get a day or two's leave, but keep in mind that you only earn 1-2 leave days every month; boot camp might earn you a couple of days, but you have to decide if it's worth it to use those days right after boot camp or to save them for holidays, emergencies, and the like.

You'll have the option to take leave after AIT. You can go straight to your new unit but the choice is yours. Keep in mind that if you go home, you'll be responsible for getting to your duty station on your own. If you choose to go to your new duty station right after AIT the govt. will pay for your ticket there... Good Luck

Its gonna depend. I went in the army in 91 and did 8 weeks of basic right into 8 weeks of AIT. My MOS was 11B (infantry). I did this at Ft. Benning Georgia. One day one of the guys said you all realize we have been here for 9 weeks! Our treatment did not change between basic and AIT!

No, you'll get leave to get to the location of your AIT - it'll only be a couple days of travel time, though. They'll encourage you to put in for leave after AIT so you can get your poop in a group and get ready to go to your unit.

If you complete basic training you get a family day or sometimes a few days depending on your unit. Once that is over you will go to your MOS school if you haven't already done so.

You'll probably go to AIT for your specific training (1-6 months), but you'll have a leave after that.
