a true God believing church will worry more about what is on the inside instead of what you wear. Jesus said be ye fishers of men. i think he meant for us to do the bringing in to church God will do the cleaning.

You are not the only person who is confused by all these teachings. The fact that there are so many churches today is confusing to us all. Especially when you examine the scriptures and they show that all believed the same and that there was only one church with multiple locations/cities. So in order to make sure you are pleasing to God you need to read and study the church of the NT. The history of that church and the actions of it's members are found in the book of Acts. People today say it does not matter which church you belong to as long as you believe in Jesus. Comapre that with the words of Jesus in Matthew 7 who tells us that not everyone that says Lord, Lord is going to get to heaven but only those who do His Father's will. So as you examine churches compare their doctrine with the Bible. For instance some churches practice sprinkling as baptism. How does that compare to the scriptures description? What about the "sinner's prayer" or the "come into my heart prayer"? Can those be found in the Bible examples? If not why do we use them?
So if you really want the Truth then research the doctrine of the church you are considering and then compare that doctrine with the church of the NT. If they do not match then that church is following man rather than God. Here is a warning about the Apostolic. I know of several people who have gotten involved with this church and when they tried to leave the members tried all sorts of scare tactics and emotions to keep them there. They make the service appealing to your emotions and concentrate on those emotions. They jump and shout and hollar and dance. Very little Bible study happens during these times. But they tell people when they start to leave that they have had a vision and saw that person burning in hell that was trying to leave. So be very careful in dealing with this church. My prayer is that God will help you find your answers. Contact me if you would like to discuss where I attend and why.

God desires all men to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4). If you seek truth, you will find it.
I don't mean to discourage you, but I wonder why do you think that you will find what you are seeking in this forum? Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). Those who children of God receive the Spirit of adoption, the Holy Spirit, who comes with the calling. One of the roles of the Holy Spirit is to lead God's children into all truth (John 16:13).
If you seek truth from people, the best they can do is point you in the right direction. But how will you know what they say is true unless God confirms it to be true? The answers you receive to your question may simply add to your confusion.
One last warning. Don't let your confusion compel you to believe something simply for the sake of having relief from confusion. Persevere in your search for truth and do the homework needed to validate it as true and make it your own.

As for the various churches. Do not listen to opinions of men. Listen to the words of Jesus. He was not silent regarding the various denominations and movements. He gave a prophetic report card leading all the way up to the last days.

As for jeans, makeup, and such--don't worry. God sees your heart, not your clothes and attire. Look at the motley crew that came to my church in the 70s!

2 Timothy 1:7
For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Instead of saying, "Hey, my denomination's the True Church," 'cuz probably most of your answerers will say that... I'm going to refer you to some good study links. The Bible is the foundation for all truth and if you ask Christ to come into your heart and teach you, He'll lead you into all truth.

Jesus Christ and Him crucified. That's the basic. Everything else is how we express our devotion to him.
My advice: stay away from "rules" people, get close to "grace" people so long as they love the Lord and His Word.

True is what you believe to be true.
Not what someone tells you is true.
You have to discover for yourself.
