Are they not able to recognize their own scripture just because atheists are not aware in their attacks that it's hebrew?

I didn't know Iran had ever done anything to hurt Israel. I do know every jewish columnist in the U.S. is creaming for a U.S. "pre-emptive" attack on Iran. War,war, war - that's all they ever want. AS far not minding criticism and "admiring their fortitute" they scream bloody murder at the slightest hint of criticism. I really think they just don't know that the OT is their "Tanahk". That ignorant.

Because the attack is directed at Christianity, and although they eagerly exploit fundie support for "Israel" they basically revile Christ and His teachings - and especially the Catholic Church. And i might add since so many of our professed "atheists" exhibit a most extraordinary esteem for the special ones,we may reasonably that both groups are united in their mutual hatred of the Church. As far as jews being "nice" - try running that past a Palestinian. They have to put up with jews running their country like British Imperial Viceroys of the 19th century.

Personally I get far more offended when Christians who do not know any Hebrew lecture to me about what my scripture says. I find that most Atheist attacks on the "OT" come from a Christian misunderstanding of it. As such I brush it off because it dose not affect me. All in all though I am not offended by legitimate criticism that Atheists often use. If I have an answer I will politely answer them. If not I will say that I dont.

We're aware- but most of the time we just ignore it unless its intermingled with an attack on Jews or Judaism. We actually don't care what atheists have to say, their opinion is meaningles sto us and their understanding of the hebrew and the related explanations minimal to zero. So why should we care what people who are meaningless to us think? Their attacks are childish, simplistic and devoid of merit- and thus their is no need to respond except where necessary to combat anti-Semitism.

I really don't believe you know what you are talking about!!
I like the Jews on this site. They are very nice and they are polite. They have never attacked the atheists, as far as I am aware, therefore I will not attack them, or their scriptures.
They do not ask dumb questions twenty-four hours a day about why atheists do this, or why atheists do that. It is very pleasant.
Christians should take a lesson from our Jewish friends.
Don't bug the atheists, just for the fun of it.

I doubt they think about it at all.

Jewish people have more class and intelligence that to get caught up in this kind of nonsense. If you want to disown the OT - your God's word - that's fine but try not to drag everyone else intot that mess.

You act as though you just found out that the OT is Jewish scripture. Did you not know all along that it's your god as well?

Why would Jews care *what* atheists think? Surely you don't believe that all of a sudden every Jew is going to slap his/her forehead and shout, "Oh wow, you're right, there is no Deity, how stupid I've been!". Don't you imagine that over the past 3000-odd years that they've heard every argument against their religion?? Get real.

American jews read it all in hebrew, and don't understand a word of it. So, they could care less what it says.

Being Jewish is all about *tradition* *values* and *culture*. One of those values is study, education and questioning. So, they all pretty much figured out that it's just an old book. Within it there is some wisdom to extract, and some ancient stories.

I have known and befriended many religious Jews in my life and they really don't care what others think about their faith. They do not actively seek to convert or convince others of what they believe, it is that simple. Religious Jews get along just fine while everyone else around them is rambling on about this and that and the other thing. I admire them for their fortitude.

christian versions of the OT have many mistranslated words.

but we don't care what other people believe or think. i mean we care, but we're not interested in proving anyone wrong.

The same thing about christian stealing their Torah and putting in their Bible.
Than saying that part of the Bible is dead we don't have to read it.
