In our house a traditional Christmas feast is on the eve, with seafood & fish, pasta, etc. (Italian) background.

Egypt = foul and koshary. Saudi Arabia = Khabsa. Portugal = 'bacalhau'. Spain = paella. Czech and Slovak = Borscht (beetroot soup), Cabbage soup with sausage, Tripe soup, Roast dinner (beef, pork or lamb) with cabbage and dumplings. France = bouche de noel. Sweden = herring (cold and marinated) and meatballs with pickles. Germany = Saurkraut and Sausages.

My family's pretty Irish New England during the holidays: roast turkey, mashed potatoes, yeast rolls, creamed peas and onions, cabbage, cornbread and sage stuffing, cranberry sauce, apple pie....
Now I'm hungry.
