I don't mean to be rude but what your trying to get accomplished is not going to happen on your declared income, you been turned down by one lender with a co - pilot and what happens now is wherever you apply the turn down on your application through Carmax will show.

The only advice I can provide is you try and buy a car with money you got or save till you reach the $1500. range or more, While its buyers beware its possible to get valid value, the Internet or Auto trader is not the places to look for vehicles in this price range.
Shop you local community newspaper along with supermarket and church billboards you may just get lucky someone just having posted a vehicle in excellent condition that's no longer needed.

Having a blemished credit rating, no credit rating or low income all spells the same, high Interest rates, if you care to understand how it works check out this link on my website http://www.usedcartips.org/CREDI.html

$1200 a month is a pretty slim amount to try and get a car loan added to. I think you may try and come up with a means of alternative transportation like the transit system. Yeah....and don't listen to novatrek either....I have made a sound recommendation based on the information provided. You would have the car payment, gas, maintenance and insurance.

Citifinancial or HFC are a couple of places that do auto loans or call some local dealers and talk to their finance people as to who they use for credit situations...they know all the local places that do low or poor credit loans. Credit unions do auto loans as well if you join.

Dont listen to Patrick.
The bus is a waste of time.

Time is your most valuable asset, taking the bus squanders it.

Buy a used car.
I bought an 03 tiburon for 10K (total with taxes and everything) and it still had warranty. Looks bad *** too.

what other payments do you make a month?

rent?
house payment?
credit cards?
other bills?

it depends how much desposible income you have left after these things. most banks are going to require that you can cover your auto payment without tapping out your budget OR will require someone to co-sign to cover their ****.
