Most counties and some cities do a "best of" list that you can usually find online. For me, I live in Solano county so I would search best vet solano county and you can find out what your community thinks.

Hi there...my answer will be a bit biased since my babies veterinarian has also been my best friend since high school almost 28 years ago.

Anyhow, we had this discussion on how the average pet family would select the best pet doctor. Here's what she mentioned in some of the surveys they they've seen:

- Location seems to the first and foremost concern in small communities
- Doctor has excellent bedside manners with pets & their parents
- Competitively priced so the clinic can hire the best staff to maintain care for the incoming patients
- Help educate the clients on pet's welfare
- Offer pro-bono work for the low income families in larger communities
- Provide referrals for specialized care

These are just some of the things that people have asked her and her colleagues.

You can ask the group you get the cat from, and you can ask friends who have pets. Some vets specialize in only cats and others are generalists.

The thing to remember is that you are not forced to keep going to a vet that you develop negative feelings about. Just as you select a doctor you are comfortable with, so should it be with your pet.

You can look for certifications at the vet office. That will give you a clue as to the extra training the vet has undergone.

Word of mouth is the best way - if you don't know anyone in the area, stop by a no-kill animal shelter or e-mail a foster kitty home on Petfinder. But also make sure you & your pet are comfortable with the vet on the first visit!

Reputation, he is a longstanding member of the community and has been in practice for many years. We used to go to PetSmart and liked the vet there, but she moved on and I didn't particularly care for her replacement. Our new vet is only 4 blocks from our house, which is handy, and also will be nearby in case of an emergency. I like his manner and the way he handles my cats. He really seems to love animals, they are personalities to him.

I asked other people *friends, friends of friends, family*
which one they went to, and I did research over the internet and directly through the clinic to see which one was the best.
I couldn't have been more right on! She's perfect!

We took our animals to one vet, and he was really good. Unfortunately, he was wanted for tax evasion and fled the country. He still hasn't been caught - he actually ran off with his secretary, and he was married. We found out about the vet we have now by word of mouth.

the 1st doggies bypass to to the vet could be interior 24 hrs when you have him/her abode. by way of that factor the "seek" could have been completed and vet chosen. without being mean .....why do no longer human beings ever do their homework?? late get entry to : this wasn't very own, and that i do stand by way of what i've got reported.

Word of mouth is usually the best method as people can tell you there experiences. So I would just ask around.

recommendations from other pet owners. Also I look to make sure the facility doesn't look run down, if they don't keep the place clean - what kind of infection might your pet pick up in there?
