Oh yes I have seen this question many times. Here let me help you. Dogs eat grass for ONLY 2 reasons: 1) they are not getting the nutrients they are seeking there for eat grass as that is where they find it 2) they have an upset stomach. The reason why they throw up grass fast is cause they don't really chew it which allows the barbs of the grass to irritate their stomach lining causing them the throw it up along with whatever is bothering them. When they eat the grass for nutrient value they spend more time chewing it smaller so the barbs of the grass are ground down smaller and not cause irritation as the dog does NOT want to throw it up. If you find your dog is eating alot of grass and not throwing up.....then he is lacking some nutrients. I have been told by many vets that help the dog out.....add some fresh or canned green beans (tablespoon or 3) to their dog food. I have done this many times and every time I do the dogs devour the green beans like crazy. Give a try. GOOD LUCK.

Sometimes dogs eat grass when they aren't feeling well. The grass irritates their stomach lining and usually causes them to vomit. This way they can sometimes clear their system of whatever is making them ill. However, there are dogs that seem to eat grass like salad with no ill effects. But, I would NEVER offer grass to my dog for him to eat.

It is ok for them to eat grass but you might want to watch out because our dog will puke a little after so just to give you a warning. Make sure the grass wasnt just sprayed with some chemicals or something.

My dogs eat grass. Sometimes a blade of it gets stuck coming out the other end - gross, I know. I'll spare you the details of what I have to do when that happens. If your 10 year old is doing it all of a sudden, then I would have him checked out by the vet.

What kind of dog is a puddle? Nobody knows why dogs eat grass, but they often vomit from doing it, and they can't really digest it.

Wow! You have a pet puddle and it eats?! Sorry, had to say it. But, I don't think i've met a dog who hasn't eaten grass. It helps their digestive system.

He;s eating grass because he needs the fiber - add a few carrots to his diet. Oh, and be careful about letting your dog out in the yard after you've laid down fertilizer.
