This might be kind of trite, but the best TV is the one you like the most. Also, Sony makes about a donzen different 40-inch HDTVs. These range in price by about a thousand dollars from the cheapest to the most expensive. The difference in price is the difference in features, circuitry, resolution, etc.

Personally, I like the look of a Sony picture better than any other brand of TV, whether HD or standard. They're more expensive than a comparable Samsung. But, I think the difference is worth it.

Best advice i can give you is to goto the store and compare the 2 models in your price range. I have been to best buy and seen TV's from both companys. I believe the samsungs are of better quality and clarity.

def goto the store. A friend and myself read reviews on his JVC tv and were laughing about how bad people said it was. yet us and everyone that see the tv says its got the best picture they have seen for only 1800 (at the time). You cant always beleive what you read you need to see it for yourself

They are the same....samsung makes sony's tv.

the first guy is sorta right back in 2004 they join forces and started plants that would make both their tvs
