on the side of the gun engraved in the metal it says USA and next to it is a bomb with a lit fuse, does anyone know what that means, my father told me it might have had somethin to do wit the army.......

That is a U.S. Military Ordinance Mark/Stamp

Any weapon with this mark was in was at one time issued to the Ordinance Department of the U.S. Army. The Ball with the Flames was their departmental mark.....

contact the remington historian to research the story on that shotgun. I checked on one I bought a few years ago, and they had the shipping info on when and where it was sent. Pretty interesting stuff.
