Everything about them is small, engine, wheelbase etc.
In the States, a Smart car will be a novelty for a short time but if they really want to make a real difference they need to import the diesel version which can also be run on Bio-fuel, now they would be worth having and at over 50-60 m.p.g. on a renewable resource, that would be Smart!

That's really pretty much it. The Smart car is small and made of lightweight materials. The smaller and lighter the car, the better the mileage efficiency. It's a pretty simple and basic concept.

They are smaller and more efficient as a result, but they are not alternative fuel. However, there is an electric version out soon.
