Kinda silly question I know, but I'm a beginner and I've just got my yellow tags (some people call them stripes or other names...) but I'm not really sure where I should put them. My teacher said about 3 inches from the end of my belt, but did he mean 3 inches then another 3 and the other one on the same end of the belt?
I know I'm kinda simple, I just don't wanna get it wrong!

Oh yeah.. and no TKD bashing thank-you very much =)
Thanks,
Rana

My kid got her first stripe about 2 inches from the end, and then the next one another 2 inches up from the first.
Since different schools often do their own thing, call your TKD school and ask. You won't be laughed at. You won't be the first to ask them that question.

It's not a silly question at all, especially for a beginner. Unfortunately no-one on this paticular forum can provide a definitive answer as every school has different traditions and unform standards.

As someone else quite properly suggested, call your school and ask them. They will expect and welcome such questions as it shows you are interested and engaged.

Good luck with your training and journey in TaeKwon-Do, and don't pay any attention to those who "TKD bash." If it's right for you, then ignore those who would deride it.

to go from a white belt to a yellow belt should only take 3-5 months or so. to get a black belt will take much longer, 3-4 years maybe.

it largely depends on the dojang-our coloured grades have the bottom edge of the tag two inches from the end of the belt. in our system we have the belt-then a tag-then the next belt up.

Your instructors really should help you with this. Ask them to show you EXACTLY where they go.
