Hi. I'm treating myself to a HDtv for christmas. Initially i planned on a samsung but after prescribing to "Which?" have opted for the panasonic 32". (It was awarded "best buy" and looks pretty impressive). But in the near future i plan on buying a ps3. I dont know whether to buy a 50Hz tv or stretch my budget to a 100Hz. I heard that 50Hz is actually better for watching tv. Does anyone play a ps3 on a 50Hz tv? does it still look amazing? Also does anyone have a 100Hz tv and wish they got a 50Hz?

Thanks

techie: read the question, i know how the technology works but i want consumer advice rather then manufacturers advice on what is actually best for playing games and watching tv

Simple way to spot a 100Hz set: Stand a few feet away from the TV and look directly at something next to the TV, so the TV screen itself isn't in the centre of your vision. If the TV screen appears to flicker, then it's a bog standard 50Hz TV. If the TV screen doesn't flicker, then it's a 100Hz.

This only really applies to CRT TVs as LCDs and Plasma generate their displays in a different way.

go for the 100 especially if your getting a ps3 you'll get better graphics and the tv will run smoother. If your going all out you should get a 1080p doesn't really matter what else it has ps3 blueray will look amazing
