You can use the free Mozy to backup your personal data online securely. Is an install and forget software; it will keep the backup uptodate with no action.

Use this link to get 2.25 Gb for free for your backups:

I am using for many months and is very good.

If you bought a name brand computer like HP, Compaq, etc., you will have to make installation DVDs as a backup for your system. This means you'll need to burn around 3 DVDs by following the instructions it gives you.

Ignore Meister ... very dangerous!

Install Norton 360. It will give you the option for a 2 gig offsite backup on their servers. Or, follow the advice from the other poster Meister said to ignore.
