Firstly, you're so lucky to have had your lab that long. My family had a labrodor x german shepherd for 12 years when I was growing up and we had an unbreakable bond. On your question, I think 14 might be a little too old to introduce a new pack member. I know that people suggest that a young pup may give her a little more energy, but on the flipside it could also tire her out. I would suggest introducing the 2 dogs to each other (if that is possible) and watch them closely and try to understand the dynamic between them. If your labrador seems unbothered by the puppy or even affectionate then I think it will be ok, but if the puppy constantly initiates play then maybe not...as that will get old real quick for your lab. I hope you have several years with your lab left.

Sirius, like the star of the dog. The white spot on his chest could look like a white star in the sky, so Sirius would be very appropriate!
Jet is also a nice name, as in Jet black.
have fun with your new puppy, but you should go to your local shelter and vet to make sure no one has posted flyers for him.
ADD: Well, it is good that you were being responsible. If it has been a week, he should be officially yours and you should register him with your township. He sounds super cute!

Please just be sure that he really doesn't have a home...labs are notorious escape artists and some poor owner may be heartbroken and in search of him. I'm sure if you do find his owner that your local shelter or rescue will have plenty of labs as labs and black large breeds are the least adopted and most often euthanized. Good Luck!

Well, I just got a beagle and I named him Mr. Furley. I hate dog names that are common. You should name your dog Indiana Bones and you can call him Indie!
Or you can name him Sir Edward Barktholamew McBones III.
Ooooo I like Giuseppe too.

Mr. Barkie Von Schnauzer! lol...love that commercial.
Your pup sounds like mine - jet black with a white diamond on her chest. My husband & I are huge baseball fans, so her name is...Dodger.
What about Onyx?

I have a girl just like that, and she is Jackie. If she were a boy, she would have been Jack.
