Army Mule:
Work horse of the infantry and artillery before automobiles, trucks, and tanks were invented.
As well as the stubbornness of the mule which the infantry had in battle.
Cavalry might have gotten the glory but it was the Mule stubborn infantry which took the ground and held it. All the cavalry did was ride around glory hunting.

Typically, a horse or a mule. Most come from Army stables or in the case of the Mules, from humane rescue organizations. Navy has a goat, Airforce a falcon, And the current Marine mascot is a bulldog named "Hummer" He's the best looking Marine I've even seen.
Interesting note; Budwieser also has horses as it's mascot!
,,and the Coast Guard still makes the best cup of coffee on the planet. Ask anyone they've rescued!
